trying UV light for a trich contam

May be a totally useless experiment but then again ya never know. I've heard that trich is basically a non-issue with outside grows due to outdoor influences. One of these possibly being UV light exposure.
My monotub has trich...instead of throwing it out, I am putting a UV light designed for airborne contaminant sterilizing into the tub for about 3 or 4 minutes a day. I will post any success or failure pics.
Here is my monotub (uncased) with contams

This is the UV setup I am using.

It is not permanently mounted. I will only do this if I see some sort of change in the quantity of trich in the tub. the write up on the bulb seems good....only deal is not to look at it with your eyes. Not a big deal...just prop it up in there for a few mins then unplug it and remove. hopefully something will happen either way.

The reason Trich isn't a problem outdoors is the constant FAE (no stagnate air)
If the contaminated tub is in your grow area and you continue on with this, you will be haunted by trich for a good while.
Trust me, it just took me 4 months to get rid of constant trich contam, all because I tried to save one lousy grow.

for sure sound advice Teddy...I took it to another house as soon as I noticed this. There is no other mushroom activity there so no cross-contamination issues. Just an experiment for the sake of seeing what will happen. Thanks for the heads up though

Cool, well I will watch to see results. Sadly though I think you will just get more and more green, then maybe a few fruits.
Oh and don't be afraid to eat any fruits from this thing, trich isn't harmful to humans with a healthy immune system.

Trichoderma will grow in bright, direct sunlight. It's the balance of nature that keeps trich from becoming a problem outdoors. It still exists in every grow, but in limited quantity that doesn't hurt anything. RR

Ok, I'm not sure this means anything or means nothing. Or hell maybe just interedsting. I did the tub with the UV light for 2 mins each day and this is what has happened. Trich has not spread at all (at least to the naked eyes) also the trich went from light coloured green to a dark green that appears dead or at least inactive. BUT the mycellium also does not appear to be spreading either. So who knows if this well mean anything beneficial to mushroom growers? Maybe a min a day during fruiting will keep trich at bay? interesting experiment although raises more questions than it answered.
