Might should have done just a little more reading before starting your grow. All of these questions are here in the forum, FAQ's, and the search engine. Really read up and then read some more, so you don't risk losing your grow to mistakes that could be avoided. However, when you harverst the shrooms, you should twist and pull the whole mushroom out. Don't leave part of the stem. That's just gonna end up rotting if you leave it on there, and that's not good. When you pick the mushrooms out, there's gonna be a bit of a hole, divot, chunk, etc.... missing. all you need to do is just get some more pasteurized casing mix and fill it back in. As far as second, third..... flushes are concerned. You want to try and harvest all your shrooms about the same time. There may be a couple that grow really fast at first and you might want to go ahead and pick those (some say to do that , some say don't). The reason some say to do it, is because those early shrooms might use up more nutrients. anyway, After you harvest all your shrooms from the first flush (all about the same time hopefully), you can then dunk your casing, if you wish, and get ready for the second flush to start coming in.
I think it would be wise to read Hyphae's "A Perfect Pinning Strategy - Getting the Most Out Of Your Pins". Look it up, it will explain all this to you......

seems like youve had a bit more luck than me. my ezgro kit took 3 weeks from the first pins to the first mature mushrooms.

doubt it. but if so tell me your secret.
Just to see what would happen, I left my mushies in an extra day so the spores could drop, and all the small fruits that were going no where I left in there. Dunked, and strained as usual.
Everyone says they rott but the myc is eating the left over mushies and... well its awesome.

yeah it took me 2 weeks to colonize, like 4 or 5 days till i saw pins, and then 3 weeks (actually a few more than that) untill i finally just plucked the first 5 (80g fresh) a bit ago. theres already well over a hundred pins raring to go and a few accidentally left with their older brothers. i just really hope these dont take so long as well.
