Question on Terr.
    #741714 - 07/12/02 12:54 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

Alright check this out. I have 2 casings and 8 cakes. All sitting a terr with 2 fishtank bubblers and perlite. But still cant get the rH Above 50%. Am i doing something wrong? I dont see why the perlite wont give off rH. I wet it very good and drained all excess water and still nothing. Even the bubblers arent giving anything off. It looks fairly humid inside. But can anyone help me solve my problems inexpensively? I've done everything right up to now i guess. My cakes look wonderful and so my casing's. Just cant figure out this one fucking problem. All help would be appericated

You should check the temp, bacause temperature plays a part in humidity. Also check the lid to make sure it doesn't have any places where the humidity could escape. Just my 2 bits.

The temp is at 78. Usally drops to 74-75 at night. And i put holes in the sides so i can put the bubbler tubes in and sealed them. But the lid dont seem to be letting it out. Whats funny is there is more humidty when i open the lid and fan it. Then there is inside. Which is odd cause my place isnt very humid. Im still stumped. Thanks for the help tho ;(

I had the same problem. My humidity gauge was reading around 48-52% but the terr was full of condisation it turned out that when the humidity got above 85% my gauge was no longer acurate and made it read fausely. Could be it or not.

I had the EXACT same problem, i had perlite and 1 bubbler yet my rH would never go above 67%.

I came up with my own way of fixing it. I got rid of all the perlite and emptied my terrarium. I took the hose from the air pump and taped it to the botton of the terr with water proof tape. I then poked many holes along the tube and plugged the end. Then i put a new water/perlite mix on top of othe hose. So i had perlite on the bottom with bubbles from the hose coming up throught the water and perlite. Now my rH is at 98%-100% constantly, no matter what the temp was at.

So if you have an air pump, hose and perlite/water already then try this. Also make sure your terr is sealed well that was the problem with one of my other terrs.

Hope that helps!
Fd

Check this tho, i added a little salt to the water and the h2o2. And it raised it up to almost 70 then started to drop again. Ugh ;P

Could it be that you are bringing in to much air with the bubbler? (thats why i don't use an air pump any more pain tog et it timed right.) try disconnecting it and misting the chamber. leave it for an hour. Also how much extra water do you have in the bottom? if i remember right removed all teh extra. you want to have a 1/4 " or so at least to be wicked up. with out extra water it will just retain the water it has.
