I lost a friend today.
    #7418548 - 09/17/07 12:08 AM (16 years, 4 months ago)

I don't get it, what leads someone from laughing and smiling one day, cheers'ing you with a beer, smoking a bowl with you, and making plans for a roadtrip with you, to taking their own life?

He was fine yesterday, we chilled, I drank a beer with him and smoked him out a nice fat a bowl, he wanted to bum one but instead I smoked all the rest of what I had with him instead, i didn't have enough to bum a bowl to him.
Looked at my roadtrip plans and stuff, and I invited him along, as he's a really cool guy.

His name was Tad. He took his life last night.

I want to punch him, I want to kick his fucking ass, then hug him, and ask him why he didn't just fucking show more, let me know. He was my friend and now I'll never get to see him again.

I knew he was suffering from being an alcoholic, he drank all the time which sucked, that's why I was trying to get him to go on this roadtrip, I wanted to smoke lots of pot with him and kinda help him detox in a sense.

I never saw this coming Tad, but wherever you are, you're going to be missed so greatly you have no idea. All your friends just broke down and sobbed when they found out.

RIP Tad.

I honestly haven't found out how he did it. I want to know, but I don't want to know, if that makes sense. I don't know if I want to know yet, it's still just pure painful for me. I lost someone who was pretty much a brother to me. Almost every night we'd get off, get a drink, and hang out, we'd have good conversations and great laughs, and then I'd always drive him home or follow him home, depending on who was more drunk.

I'm sorry to hear it. At least you know that he got to spend his last day with a real friend.

It'll be a quiet day at work, yesterday everyone was left in shock, as he's my co worker as well. Coping and carrying on is about all that's left for the ones that are left to have to cope with it.

It's just hard to remember what it's like to be in that situation, you're wondering Why, but then you're thinking, do you really have to understand why? Does he really need a reason? Isn't the feeling of not being able to go anywhere in life, as if the walls are collapsing around on your is enough...

Life is precious, there is still too much to do and see in this world to give up at the age of 21.

As far as his alcoholism, would you have gone anything differently in retrospect in regard to trying to help? I have a couple alcoholic and borderline friends but its hard to really do anything without getting in an argument.

Sorry to hear about your friend Tad man, I know exactly how you feel. I had a friends father take his life a month ago, then about a week ago, his son, one of my best friends purposely OD'd. Horrible shit this month man.

It makes me want to cry to know that someone can be so scared that they have to feel like theres no other way to resolve something. Idk what to even say anymore about shit like this. Except this, you can't blame yourself, suicidal people often give little or no signs that they want to be gone. Sorry again man, I'm there with you.

I just lost a buddy the same way on Saturday totally unexpected. There's a lot of emotions that go along with something like this and I feel you and we're all with you through this.

I feel worst of all for my buddy who had to find his best friend hanging in his closet, I don't understand how people can do this to their friends.

Man...

This strikes oddly close to home.

I'm the kind of guy that forms brotherhoods. My best friends are family to me.

There are some in this bunch who I often wonder about. To Surround yourself with smart, creative people is to surround yourself with that chance. My friends and I often drift in and out of depression, and sometimes I wonder... Could it happen? Could any of my brothers finally end it?

How would I feel?
Could I keep myself from that same path?

That's truly sad, man. Sudden tragedy is always fucked up.

My deepest condolences.

The police are investigating and believe it to be a suicide but are checking for possible homocide. I still don't know what happened, it's frustrating.

I wish his obituary said a little more about who he was. He was a really wonderful kid, trying to figure out where he belonged, he struggled a lot, but he was the life of the party, the nicest person you could imagine.

I'll have to ask my buddy Kevin to get the photos from last month's big party. Tad and I always hung out at the bars, went to parties together, he was my drinking buddy. He was the friend I could tell my miseries to. he told me a lot, I think I know a lot more about his suicide than most, at least the reasons behind. The loss of the one he loved, his feelings of hopelessness he was always talking about.

He used to tell me that I still had a future, which I thought was weird at the time, because I was older than him. Now I understand a little more. I wonder how long he was thinking about this for. It's a terrible occurance.

Tad, wherever you are, you're still my friend, and someday we'll talk again, someday we'll sit at a bar and have another drink together. It may not be anytime soon, but eternity is a long time to wait for me, so just wait.
