Outdoor Growing = Bug Problems

This is just a general question, Whenever I have spent cakes/casings I throw them outside in a shady damp spot.
Seems like within hours, they're COVERED in pillbugs (rolly-poley's, doodlebugs) and other assorted ground dwelling insects..

They munch the cakes/casings up before they even get a chance

I don't wanna put pesticide out there, for fear of the mushrooms taking it up, is there anything else I can do?

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm in texas btw, if that matters..

use something like the screen from a screen door and make a fence around it... or im sure they sell something simaler to keep bugs from attackin plants in a garden...

I wasn't talking about growing them as a tek :P

Just seems a lot of people have some ammounts of success with just throwing them out in their yards. If I wanted to *GROW* them outside, like have a patch, I'd use that tek, I'm just talking about spent cakes and whatnot.
