I don't use mine anymore but always liked them for meditation when I did. For me they weren't able to divine but were used as a tool to focus for divination.
That's what I'm sayin'
The cards can be used as Talisma (persona folders/partitions) and as such should never be seen or touched by others...

My opinion on this. I used to have tarot cards and books on it and would use it. Also I practiced astrology, and wrote computer code to calculate the various transits and progressions.
I no longer have anything to do with these occult practices and now consider them works of darkness.

You have a right to your opinion.
I would just like to point out that Religion uses FEAR to keep people from using EMPOWERING techniques. It is strictly a socio-political control mechanism going all the way back to Constantine and the "Holy" Roman Empire.
A simple objective review of world history will show that the Xtians have done the most horrific Evils, and the Gnostic followers of Horus (not Set/Saturn/Satan) have been the Occult (read: HIDDEN) keepers of the Light.
But that's just my opinion, and I'm not trying to change your mind.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine...

This is off topic I know, but I never understood why so many Christians had such a dim view of astrology. If you believe God created the universe why is it so wrong to believe he did it with a pattern in mind? The Bible, which doesn't make the 3 Wise men out to be demons, states that they knew about the birth of Christ from the stars.
But back to Tarot, I was just starting to learn about the Tree of Life when I put them away. It was so complex but extremely interesting. If I ever picked them up again it would be for this reason.

Most likely just cold reading, as with astrololgy.
Take any horoscope of any sign and read it as if it was yours - they will all fit with the same rate of accuracy.
Research cold reading - its been used for centuries as a method of telling someones fortune, it is the same method used in most prediction systems but is not a true prediction method at all.

Astrology was also designed around the seasons of Europe, so all the things they say should have no real meaning to someone born of a different culture with different seasons.

Most in -depth astrological readings take into account the location of your birth not just the day.

The seasons are only another shown description of the 'cycle', which is inherently perceivable everywhere else

tarot is a good deck of associated symbols it is good for studying symbols and association.
divination is another matter. it is a kind of proxy thinking.
you can use any forms of augury in divination, and it won't necessarily be well formed divination.
proxy thinking has been in use in ritual and natural magic forever. when something is not well understood but people have to proceed beyond the limits of understanding, the proxy is dealt with instead -with varying degrees of effectiveness - the proxy being a symbol of the idea, task, illness, or problem.
thousands of gods have been invented as proxies, and religions have been built of rituals to these proxies.
the interesting thing about all that proxy magic is that a person can be conceived as a huge bag of ignorance, practicing rituals and knowing that this disconnect or connect through proxy is going to be enough...

I believe the Tarot can give accurate, informative, and interesting readings. This definitely seems more likely when done by an experienced Tarot reader, however.

Personally I have had runes and tarot cards and I threw them in the trash a long time ago. Notice both say not to do more than once in a few week period? It is because they will say something totally different everytime. They aren't fake but they don't tell, only create. You are casting that reading over the person and it is the spell you created without knowing that makes them seem accurate....runes are worse...you can draw any combination of runes and it will agree with some part of your life...it is all BS as far as divination goes....just spell casting that is camouflaged...I was a practitioner of general magick for a while, eclectic in everything and just like anything you buy at an occult shop, hate to break it to ya but if it worked it was in your head...like the parker brothers ouija...now if it was a witch board that would be different...sucks that, myself included, that we want to believe it is real so bad that we miss it when it is obvious that it isn't

Say you believe in fate in some way. And you also believe that there is some way of deciphering whats going to happen next from previous events... so that which card appears is an indicator of whats going to happen next, kind of like a domino effect. Which wouldn’t work, because a series of cards is too little data to make a prediction on. Unless there was some kind of force you were communicating with which has the power to make the cards tell you the future by some how manipulating what cards occur. Or if you think the cards are some how connected to the basic way the universe operates and will always show you things.... I don’t know, I’m just kind of brain storming, i don’t really believe in the cards, although i do think the symbolism of it is very cool and could be used as a way to explore the mind, because human thought works on symbols alot.
