Is old grain still good?

I havent been growing in a few months and Im trying to get everything ready to start again. I forgot that I had 2 dozen pressure cooked jars of rye in my pc. When I realized they were there I expected to find a contam nightmare but I opened the lid to see that all looked clean with moisture in jars and foil on top . Would it be cool to just inoculate these jars or should I play it safe and make a new batch?

Well I have plenty more grain but since I have to work the next few days letting it sit in water for 12 and then pcing the next day and then letting them cool. All this could take 4 or 5 days since Im on a tight schedule. In theory I think they would be good to go since they were pced for a little over an hour and the foil lids have never been lifted. Im waighting for some more oppinions though. I'll probably go with the general consensus here.

They've been sitting for a few months?
Considering the cost of grain, I'd start over. After all, working with grain is pretty easy. There is no pre-mixing and measuring like pftek and you don't eant to waste your spores on what might be too dry (by now) substrate.
Make some new jars and check on them in a few months...

If they look like they are still moist, then I wouldn't think there would be any problem with them. I would use them.

Well now 1 for 2 against using them. They look to be plenty moist. They had the foil on tight, the lid of the pc on and I live on the coast so its humid here most of the time.

The Raccoon has used 2 month old quart grain jars w/plastic lids w/1/4 inch hole & fiter disk underneath that were stored & forgotten about. None showed any contams, but after shaking to check the water content & opening one to do the same, he still PC'ed them again. They are now colonizing like gang busters. So, if there miosture content is still at acceptable levels, yours might work. Up to you. SixTango

My cat would shake 'em, and if the jar doesn't get all smeary from the rye then he'd re-PC the jars then knock-up.
If the grains look at all smeary, my cat would toss.
