ftp behind a home router
    #7415539 - 09/16/07 05:46 AM (16 years, 4 months ago)

I've got an ftp site using IIS behind a home router. For the adapter settings in IIS, I've selected all unassigned. I'm not using DNS, so when I connect from the outside I should be able to use my public IP address and the router should forward it, correct?? I have the ftp ports open in the router and it's not working...any suggestions??

Eeew... IIS...

Very unlikely. FTP uses two sockets, one for commands and one for data. The commands go across port 21 while the data goes across a port number assigned on the fly. You can get around this by having your client use PASV. A good description can be found at http://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html

Fortunately, I have very little experience with IIS and will not be much help.

don't forget to make an exception in your firewall for your ftp. also try setting up ssl.

I can flash/jtag/repair 360's, pm for details.
