i thought it may not be a trich otherwise your probably right.
i took the top photo so everyone could see that the right cacti used to have 8 columns and now has 7. Is it possible that the cactus on the right is in some form a hybrid of peruvianus and some trich with more columns? thats my interest. it was the only specimen of its character, and it had a green plastic flower glued on it which i happily ripped off and stuck back on the shelf the cactus on the right has a lot of blue on it, the spines are most definitely peruvianus-like.
sure crossing my fingers on this $1.25 gamble.

nope, i dont think they are trichocereus at all, all the trichs ive ever come across have yellowish spines(or start off that way anyway), these got black....another thing ive never seen on any trich.

peruvianus has brownish/orange/black spines...
my bridgesii also has orangish/black spines.
im guessing your referring to san pedro? the echinopsis/trichocereus is a rather large family of cacti, and a lot of them have black thorns...
the one on the right is definitely a trich of some sort, after breaking it down. the one on the left I still have doubts. it most likely is a pedro/cuzcoensis or hybrid thereof. but theres many cacti that could look like this at this stage of maturity. these are getting repotted and put into decent sunlight tomorrow, see how they do

nah all the trichs i own start off with yellow spines then they change color, ive got pedro, bridgesii, macrogonus, peruvianus, spachanus, and grandiflorus so far. i was only going by what ive observed in the ones ive come across.

ok? so I dont exactly get what your trying to say gossipreader.
you say they arent trichs cause they have black thorns as starting growth, although only one of them has black thorns and on the very top "newer" growth. the lower spines on both cactus are yellow/white mixed.
I really dont understand, whats your arguement here? find a better weed magazine

Hi guys!
Check this out

These are all seedgrown Pachanois. Of course the two in the top are much older than the others but you guys can notice how different they are from each other when growing from seed. In my opinion it is very pretentious to try to ID a cactus seedling, specially pachanois who are very spiny when young, very hard to distinguish from other Trichs. I was just saying they look like pachanois, I´m not saying 'they are pachanois'.
