I think a lot of foods which help on spiritual ventures are good fruits, good teas, and positive thinking.
For myself I like drinking yerba mate, eat some passion fruit, and just walk.

Greed often comes up; the comparing mind is eager to compare how much you're eating with others; intense desire often arises, for satisfaction, for sense gratification, for that feeling of fullness...
so true

I almost choked on these chips and nacho cheese that I was overeating while I read this.
Then quit stuffing them in your mouth like its a race to the finish line.

According to Hinduism, food is divided Into three categories - Sattvic, Rajasic and Tamasic.
Tamasic is the worst food of all.The food that is left over and contaminated is usually called Tamasic food. These foods are supposed to produce jealousy and greed among men.
Rajasic foods : Food that consists of meat of animals is called Rajasic food.Rajasic food also contains spices, onions, garlic, hot-pepper, pickles etc. Rajasic foods are supposed to produce activity and strong emotional qualities among men.
Sattvic foods : Sattvic foods are those foods which do not agitate your stomach at all.Much of the Sattvic food consists of fruits and nuts, and vegetables. These foods are supposed to produce calmness and nobility among men.
Hindu diet codes strictly prohibit the consumption of beef and pork.
As per those codes, eating fruits and vegetables increases one's magneticism. From what we can understand today about diets. we are sure that ancient Hindu saints had a very good idea about food in general and their effect on the body and thinking pattern of man.Expression of the soul is dependent on the body, and the body is dependant on food.So for proper spiritual development, a proper diet is a must for everyone.
IMO, rajasic and sattvic would be the best combo..strong emotional qualities and calmness, alternating between dormancy and active, as circumstances demand.

In fact, the practioners of such diet never gave a thought as to what women should eat, what would be best diet for their life cycles.
In South Asia, in some parts, it is still traditional for women to eat last and less. They eat the leftovers after the husband had eaten. (sickening tradition).
Girls in India are two-to-four times more likely to suffer from acute malnutrition than boys.

Not too surprising, as those cultures are incredibly misogynistic. I prefer looking to a more-scientific source for my nutritional information, anyway. In my experience, contaminated leftovers are more likely to produce diarrhea and vomit than greed and jealousy.
