Hey guys, I am a newbie at growing. I was browsing the internet for a couple of days just found something that i may buy. I don't think i can post a link but this is what it includes:
3 Grain Jars, Casing Soil, Vermiculite & 6 Casing Trays - 8 x 4 x 3"
Will i be able to grow with this? also what strain would you guys recommend for a noob?
Also does anyone know a good site that would show me what the shrooms would look like when they are ready for cultivation, based on their strain?
Also how would I dry these?
Thanks and any help/tips/advice is appreciated.

If you're a noob, just use the PF TEK and follow it to a T.
Here's a link for the PF TEK

ok, i have been doing research, but more on the effects of mushrooms and whatnot...but just one question..
are those materials(besides the spores) enough to grow with or am i missing something essential?

all of your questions could be answered by using the search button, that is prolly why no one is answering your post. but i'll try to answer a few of your Q's. you can prolly buy all the supplies you need individually from grocery stores and nurseries...that kit will prolly cost you a good bit more than buying the supplies in any tek found on this sight by using the search button. if you use the search button you'll find descriptions of any variety of mushrooms and will tell you the ease at which they can be grown. if you use the search button you can prolly find all kinds of great pics explaing what to do and when to do it. again, if you use the search button you will find a variety of methods for drying mushrooms, you can pick and choose the method that will be best suited for you. oh yeah...one more thing...use the search button, just in case i didnt mention it in the above text. some ppl will get a little upset about noobs posting questions that have already been posted a million times. it gets a little annoying. take your time and do some research, it will be much better for you in the end.

You came to the right place. Start here: http://www.shroomery.org/17/Mushroom-Cultivation-FAQ
At the top of this forum there is the STRAIN THREAD. Don't bother getting involved in that mess :-) I assume you want to grow psilocybin mushrooms? Any strain of psilocybe cubensis is easy and you will enjoy.
The FAQ will answer all your questions about picking, drying, etc.
The kit sounds ok, it will produce, however I would suggest looking at the technique "PF tek" in the FAQ section. Its much easier for a beginner than casing, as the kit you listed. PF tek is good especially since you are new and may have trouble with contamination. Follow the PF tek to a T. The first time I grew mushrooms I failed horribly and was very discouraged, it was a mail order kit sold in high times in the early 80's and was much like what you describe. That is a more advanced subject, you need some experience under your belt before trying that.
You should buy "The Mushroom Cultivator" by Paul Stamets as well. It is the bible of growing certain types of mushrooms, including the ones you want to grow. Amazon sells it, and many libraries have it. Have fun and don't do anything illegal.
