does anybody know guitar/bass amp repair!?!?!?!?

ok, so i play the bass and my amp rig right now is a Washburn xb120 bantam 4 string into a 380W Trace Elliot head. from there into a Bag End 1x15 and a Warwick 2x10. both cabs are rated at 8ohms and so is each output on the amp (2 outputs).
everything has been working good and severely loud (when the occasion called for it. a couple times the gain was just too high and it was getting a lot of feedback, but i was using a rack-mounted flange/delay box that added a lot of gain) for about 6 months. but i played a show last weekend (without the effects, it was still awesome, btw ) and when i unloaded my car i just left the amp in the garage all week.
so then i'm about to practice with my band the other day and i get everything plugged in and all the levels set and turn her on. there's very little volume and when turned all the way up, there is a lot of distortion in the bass frequencies and only the volume that the amp would normally have at about 2 or 3
so a grab another head i have (same exact Trace Elliot but with only 150W) and it works fine and the practice goes well from there. BUT, the gain knob seems to be working backward on this one no volume w/ gain at 10. full volume w/ gain at 0 WTF. i havn't used this one before so i don't know if it has been like that the whole time or not. i got it when i added the Bag End 6 months ago.
so can someone tell me what the fuck is going on? or perhaps post a link to a good amp repair forum? i'm going to open up the case later and see if there is anything visibly wrong with it, it would be nice to have some one with some experience with this sort of stuff to help me out.

maybe the wires to the gain knob are backwards?

the backwards gain knob is not that big of an issue but thanks for the input
and no, there are no tubes in these amps, all solid-state.

It sounds like something in your output stage is broken - so you get sound (line-level sound is there) but no output amplification.
Is this the manufacturer? http://www.trace-elliot.co.uk/
What model is it, exactly?

yes, that is the manufacturer. it's an older model 3001 with the GP7SM bass preamp 300.
oh, oops, it's 280W RMS not 380W, with a 580W peak rating.

the AH 350 SM most closely resembles mine as far as i can tell, the manual for it is basically for the GP7SM preamp. though on the back of mine it just says "Model Number 3001"
