I personally love the shit out of John McCain, I mean the dude jokes about bombing John Stewart, what's not to love right?
I know this site supports Ron Paul, which I don't, but oh well.
In anycase, what is your thoughts on John McCain?

See, that's the problem with America man, nothing against you, just too many people are indiffernt. Probably the reason Bush got a second term, that or America was too busy smoking crack, not quite sure which it is, lol.

I wont be too upset if he is president. His stance on immigration is the main reason I dont support him. (He is my senator too BTW)
But his campaign doesnt seem to be doing to well, I dont think he will make it (though it is early to speculate). He still has more of a chance than Ron Paul though.

If he can't maintain his campaign spending, why should I believe he will be responsible with taxpayer money as president?

I have a lot of respect for the man- spent years in a POW camp in Vietnam. He has actually served and sacrificed for our country unlike Bush/Cheney and others.
Sadly, I don't feel he is the right man for the times. He was the right man in 2000 (and I would have voted for him then) but the GOP blundered, chose Bush and now you see what we got.
McCain's stance on so-called "immigration reform", cozying up to Bush and Falwell, and support for the surge have forced me to stop supporting him.
He has gone from being a reformer to an establishment man and it has cost him independants without gaining him any conservatives.
He still has my admiration and respect as a senator and as a man though.

I'm not sure I'd vote for Mccain.. depends on who the dems had up against him.. although McCain's the only open minded rebublican. That I HAVE to admit. He's the only PRO WAR candidate that thinks it's important for ANTI WAR people to voice themselves.
So you know he's at least pro war because he thinks there's a purpose and not cuz we need to bomb all the brown people... like all other republicans.
And if anyone should be able to speak about war ... its someone who's been tortured for years as a POW in vietnam. That way if he ever says anything anti war and a bunch republicans try to say he's demoralizing the troops he can be like
"FUCK YOU BITCH! I GOT CACTI RAMMED UP MY ASS FOR THIS COUNTRY FOR YEARS IN HANOI WHILE YOU WERE SMOKING POT IN COLLEGE."

I can't stand John McCain. He was a staunch defender of detainee rights (as he should be, being a former POW himself). He was an anti-torture advocate, and he raised the issue to the current administration. This cabinet, instead of stopping torture, redefines it, so how they interrogate is legal. And then McCain says all his concerns have been addressed and fixed.
Of all the republicans though, he's still much better than most, I think Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul are much better candidates.
Overall, it's all one party, neither side will actually enact a change, be it for drugs, or foreign policy, or any REAL issue.

Great point. That move (in addition to the Falwell hug) really got my attention. It demonstrated to me that McCain has changed. Given his heroic history I feel like he sold his soul on that one.
The man is by temperment an outsider- always will be. That is who John McCain IS.
He has turned himself inside out.
In 2000 he ran as an outsider and was defeated. GWB, the establishment candidate, won.
Now in 2007 he is running as an insider at a time when an outsider is what is needed. If he had just stayed true to who he was all along the country would have come around to him.

I have had other reasons for why I wouldn't support McCain. His careless spending with other peoples money being the first. How did he blow through 12 million ( all he had in campaign funds ) in Q2 and end up tanked in the polls afterwards?
Heaven forbid he spent our taxes at that careless rate with the same " make things even worse after the spending to make it better" effect.
That video link was just posted elsewhere. Looks like McCain has NOOOOOOOOOO problem lying on television to us either, to save his face.
Maybe he did believe what he was saying. It was proven false as Jones DID say, we need political reconciliation in Iraq before it can begin to become secured.
For McCain to believe he said the opposite, goes to show, he hasn't been keeping on top of things with Iraq and also makes poor assumptions of peoples character. No way do i want someone that un researched and poor at character judgment as Commander in Chief or leading this nation.
He would rush in and spend billions more trying to secure before trying for political reconciliation when the experts say, you have to achieve peace with the faction leaders FIRST. McCain would just incite more insurgents to flood in and blow through more of our money fighting a loosing battle, getting more of our guys killed, because of his ignorance.
McCain would loose so many of our guys, he'd have to call for a draft.
