WALLMART SALE!!!!!

Hey everyone i just got back from wallmart, and they had some KICKASS Pressure Cookers on sale!!!! i got me a Presto 22-quart pressure cooker for $50!!!! it holds 24 half pint jars!!! i dunno if wallmart sales are nationwide, but it might be worth a trip down there to check it out...
the jars and cookers were in teh seasonal section....
i love wallmart... they wont sell CD's with "objectionable lyrics", yet for about 150$ i got a semi-professional setup for growing illegal mushrooms they had just about EVERYTHING but the spores!!!!
h202 on sale! 4 for 1$ Vicks Cools mist! on SALE 22$ 28gallon rubbermaid bin ON SALE!!! 9$ mason jars not on sale BUT THE PRESSURE COOKER WAS 50$!!! woo hooo!!!
on a side note, the people at wallmart TOTALLY knew i was up to no good as i was walking out the door, the "recipt checkers" came up to me and said "ok, tell me the truth now.... what are you doing with all this stuff....." and before i could reply ( i was gonna say making salsa ) he said "You makin Moonshine aint ya!!!" it sounded good to me... so i gave him a sly wink and a little "shhhh" he said..... "dont worry, i aint gonna say nothin'... just bring me a jar when u finished!"
perhaps i should bring him some when im done ....
[hyp]
oh and BTW, these sales may not be goin on in your area... im pretty sure everything was on sale cuz i live in the northeast. NOONE cans anything around here.... thats why they were so suprised to see someone buying all their mason jars and a big ass pressurecooker

he said 24 HALF PINTS or 20 Pints or 7 Quarts. I have a 17-Quart pressure that holds all the same except instead of holding 20 pints it can only hold 10 because of it's hieght. Great price though I bought a new one last week and paid $79.99 for it.

I hope you get this but for the love of god don't buy that thing. I just got one and took it back today. It has a 3 gallon a day output right? Well it doesn't do it worth a crap. I ran it on the highest humodity setting and it never got more than 55% plus the fan blows so much you'll get way to much fresh air exchange. Thats if it is the same one. A Robitussin Nartural Cool Moisture Humidifer 3 gallon output\ Day for Medium to Large Rooms with Agion Antimicrobial Filter for the bargain price of $34.84 plus tax. Thats just my opinion though.

Wish I read that before I bought it. =/
The reason I picked it up, is cuz my old 1 gal cool mister wasn't really working out. I think the motor on it was doing it, but the thing just made my room warm from the output. Despite anything I did. There wasn't much diff in the settings as well, high was normal and normal was off. What a POS, unless it is hooked up w/ PVC tubing directed into the terr, it isn't good for much else.
This new one doesn't seem as bad as u say, I put it on high and maxed the moisture setting. It sent my room to 76 in almost 3 mins. Fucking kick ass. The reason for it is, my area temp likes to go to 96 and stay that way for days. With the humidity it feels more like 106. And my "friends" mushies are like, fuck that. More or less, it is for his casings. With such high temps it is hard to induce pinning (drop the temp enough), short on a AC, the temp around him wont go down for anything. This machine seems to have the power to drop the temp at a good rate and hold it there for as long as I keep the tank full. I haven't had EXP with it yet, but it looks promising.
Is there such thing as "too much air exchange"? As long as the air is clean, no moisture build up (standing water). My friend is kind of anal about being clean. Wont even open his terr w/o hitting the brim w/ %90 alcohol before and after. Crazy clean.

My cat's whole setup is based on the 73qt Sterilite bins at his local Wal-mart store - $3.47 each! They're also the one ones that carry the potting soil he uses to case with, not to mention the 93% alcohol (kitty's a little concerned with sterility).
Thank you, Mr. Wal-Mart. You have made more people happier in more ways than you probably know.

Nope. Shrooms would really like to grow outdoors, where there is constant air exchange.

>>The correct amount of air exchanges for most commonly cultivated species is around 2-3 per hour.<<
If that is the case, then how do mushrooms grow in the wild without suffering adverse side-effects? Their natural habitat has unlimited air exchange. How does too much O2 during fruiting cause disproportional fruits? Stamets reccomends "CO2: less than 5000 ppm" (TMC, p.199).
Spawning and postcasing/prepinning stages require 5000-10000 ppm, but that's usually done in a jar or bag with passive gas exchange.
Assuming that the air being pumped actually is clean and humidity-controlled (meaning like clean-room type sterility), I don't see why you couldn't exchange it once per minute. The only danger to the fruitbody might be the wind generated by that rate of exchange.
But in the practical sense you're right - too much air exchange just introduces needless contams and makes the humidity fluctuate too much.

>>You may notice that when the frutibodies appear in nature, they will perform far better in tall grass areas of a field where the humidity and co2 are "trapped" in. <<
I always figured it was the humidity and shade that mushies preferred in tall grasses. I just can't see how CO2 could build up in any appreciable amount outdoors, except in the buried mycelium.
Grasses themselves, in fact, deplete the CO2 in the atmosphere and excrete O2 (and H2O) as a part of the photosynthetic process. One would expect to find less CO2 in most of the places shrooms grow wild (in the shade of trees, mossy areas, tall grass, etc), with a higher concentration of O2.
Have you read or researched this somewhere? I admit, I'm just speculating here based on stamet's call for 'less than 5000 ppm' CO2 concentration. I don't know much about the dynamics of air movement and exchange in natural environments.
What is the everyday average CO2 concentration of a suburban area, anyway?

I agree FanaTEK. It should also be pointed out that many species of mushrooms do not grow in tall grass.
