I've always wondered how much LSD she did. All I ever hear about her is Southern Comfort and heroin.

Apparently she wasn't the huge drug user people thought her to be
I think the reason she ODed (according to a friend) is that her system wasn't used to such a dose

Janis didnt like LSD she almost never induged. She didnt put down people for taking it though. She prefered her SoCo, meth in her early career and heroin in the later part. The reason she ODed is because her dealer got a new batch and the dude he used to test it was out of town so this really potent new batch of skagg got sold to her. A couple other people were killed as well from the same batch.

My favorite song of hers is "Get It While You Can" or maybe "Move Over" I have all her original albums. Inherited from my mom.
Janis is the Queen!
I guess that qualifies me as a fan.

I thought Grace Slick was the "Acid Queen?" but Janis was great anyway. A lot people here in Tennessee call her a "damn dirty hippie" while thinking the Grateful Dead was the best band ever.

And White Rabbit to me defines the psych scene to perfection. I think Grace was/is an awesome singer, but Janis was one of a kind.

Both my wife and I have always been big Janice fans. We met her in a bar 4 or 5 years ago. Well obviously we couldn't have but, To us we did.
It was a hole in the wall biker bar we stopped at to check out some friends. This lady was doing Janice covers and shew blew our minds. Sounded and looked just like her. Very strange as she wasn't a paid act or anything. This place rareley has those. She was just another patron.
Later that night she wound up at my wife and I's table drinking and chatting. Odd woman but we liked her. It was a very surreal night. She made implications that she was a witch one time and a guardian angel another. Trippy old hippy chic. lol Funny little coincidences kept being noticed such as her and my wife wore the same perfume called Spellbound no less. lol
She definatley left an impression on us that night. We remember and bring her up every now and then still. Another of life's strange little encounters that makes your mind roll around a bit.

Where did you hear that from? It sounds right, but like Shroomery member #164443, JunkFood, I've wondered from time to time how much acid Janis took.
Hey, take a listen to the original recording of the song "Piece Of My Heart". It was originally recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967.

Check this out. It's the original version of "Get It While You Can", which was released in 1967 by Howard Tate and then later covered by Joplin.

Thanks Learyfan, that was pretty cool. A little different from Janis but definitely another great version of the song. Sure has the sound from the late 60's don't it. Otis covering that song would have been awesome too.
