Possible Liberty Caps in NW England

I went on my first hunt yesterday, didn't find much fungal life at all.But i did find this:

Habitat: Grass that has had sheep grazing on it. Was found growing in a clump of long slightly damp grass in Location:NW England, Cheshire. Unfortunately the mushroom was damaged in transit. So not loads of information the cap was no larger than 1 cm across. Hopefully the picture can help. obviously I understand if the lack of information makes an identification impossible. Just it would help a lot if i knew wether the field is a good place to start or not. Mark

That might be blueing around the edges, hard to tell.
Try taking a spore print and posting the results:

and a field is a great place to start. Get in the habit of spore printing all the finds you're unsure about, that'll narrow it down a lot.

If you have a big enough chunk of cap or a few small chunks left you can still spore print those.
Go a paper bag if you're happy to carry it around outside, or if you want to pack it into a backpack, use a plastic tuppaware container with a brown paper bag lining the bottom and lots of big air holes punched through.

I like to use a chain coffe store to-go cup to collect and transport mushrooms. It allows the specimens to breath while keeping them from being crushed, and it's also inconspicuous.
While urban hunting, I walk around with my coffee cup in hand and my cell phone pressed to my ear. No one thinks twice about the guy walking in circles on the grass drinking coffee and making a phone call.

Nice technique, scout
Mark, that sure looks like a lib, but it could also be something quite similar-looking like ps. coprophila. However, there's a really good chance that that is in fact a lib, so go out and look for more.
