this town

is anyone sick of where they live?

I am 24 and have been living in this place for like 10 years, this general area all my life. I think it's killing me. Nothing is holding me here except my lack of money which I could change if I were more motivated. But my desire to leave is to passive, because it's also comfortable here. I have been hanging around to finish up my degree at a cheap college, and I finished it, so now I have no excuse to stay here. I want to go to grad school for game or video design, or illustration/animation - but I'm not sitting down and researching schools, or getting all the required paperwork that really needs to get done before winter.

I could move in with my dad and save up money to leave on my own, but instead I rack up bills in an apartment. I can't sacrifice a little personal space for the greater good.
well maybe I'm just trying to relax after constant schoolwork for the past 4 years, I dont know, it will all work won't it? yea.

i dont know what it is exactly.. I feel trapped. No matter how far away I drive I always feel locked down to this place. I have alot of memories here, and most of them good, of exciting things happening and girls and running around the town at night. But it's like eventually everything started to feel repetitive and now I feel repetitive. fucking shit, I just want to feel nervous and uncertain like I'm caught up in something huge again.

i know how you feel, just pack up and drive somewhere, go camping, stop smoking weed, go hiking, rock climbing.

trust me, the grass is ALWAYS greener. as soon as you move somewhere else you will be sick of it within a year.

just keep moving

I'm sick of here; I wish there were more people where I live.

man just do your own thing. i used to hate the rural area i used to live, but then started getting into going out for walks, jumping fences and exploring huge complexes, bush walking, canoeing, driving to random places for no real reason other than to smoke weed and/or take photos.

be adventurous and inventive, make your own fun. explore

Yea you're right, If I really try there are a million unexplored places around here and there will always be that... I just want to wake up and be in a different part of the world and be saturated with new stimuli, not have to go out searching for it. maybe I'm just lazy. I know i'm lazy half the time.

haha yea... someone let me mooch off them until I find work. I have a bachelors degree and if that doesn't help I am a good laborer and have lots of references. Seriously, I will clean your house every day if I can chill there for a month while I find a job.

I had the same feeling in my small town.

So I left to go to college, got a job and never came back. You said yourself your unmotivated. In a while, ou'll be so sick of it you'll be motivated to do something about it.

I know how you feel man. Small town Mississippi isn't my cup of tea. I left, went to school, and I 'planned' on not coming back here, but here I am. Sometimes circumstances bring you back to the one place you don't want to be, but if you really don't like it there use it as determination to do something about it. Also like everyone else is saying, sometimes doing something outside of the norm can make the repetitive nature of your life more exciting.

No offense but it kind of sounds like you need a good swift kick in the ass!   You know what you want to do, you aren't happy with where you are at and you are prepared and ready for the next stage of your life.  So go!  Get out there!  The world is a big wonderful place full of surprises and opportunities you are just letting slide by.

Sit down and write up a plan.  Get rid of the apt.  tell your dad to let you stay for 2 months and 2 months only.  Save up every penny while living with him and looking for work.  It's easy enough nowadays to find work elsewhere, that's what the internet is for.  At the end of two months, give your dad a hug/thanks and start your new life!  It's totally do-able, but you have to set your mind to do it.  I know you can.
