I believe being addicted to drugs is an alternative lifestyle, like being gay.

I use drugs both to feel good and for a deeper understanding of myself.

You can try to "stand" on addicttion but it is more like addiction stands on you.
I'm a daily pot smoker, ocassional psychedelic, ocassional ritalin, ocassional cocain, ocassional alcohol... the thing is i'm a consumer and this has become a part of my life, yeah, like a lifestyle.

I can asure i'm heavily addicted to pot and the rest of the substances are just for special ocassions... when i like to wear personality disguises... at the end i feel still in control but i know is this feeling the one that could drawn me.

Just don't think you can manage your consumption because addiction is a bitch and it can grab your balls anyday. I think one good advice is not using drugs to overcome life situations but to relax or party after that, one advice that i find hard to follow.
Stay away from drugs you don't want in your life, because very deep inside of you, you know you would do it if you had difficulties in life or just want to get wasted one of these days.

May light shine on us users, it's great to play with the mind just handle with care.

peace

Alcohol's usage to feel good is socially acceptable too. Although, unlike cocaine and other hard drugs, it will not immidiately destroy your life. Furthermore, moderate usage will not cause any damage and as a matter of fact, it can be benificial.

Cocaine and heroin don't cause any inherent damage.

You're a victim of drug myths/demonization.

Yah I hate when people try to rationalize their habbits with excuses like "it keeps me in touch with myself" or worse yet "it helps me expand my mind and understand others". I consider that a bit of a self delusion for reasons I don't really have the energy to explain. Just take my word for it.

As for heroin, well, I am not aware of any life threatning consequences from the first time use but consider the fact that the LD50 dosage (lethal dosage), there is no set consensus on it.

That's a far cry from:

All you gave me was a vague statement saying that after the first hour of cocaine use, risk of heart attack increases 24-fold.

And so what if heroin can be ODed on? It's a concentrated substance. The point is that when not overdosed on, it's not damaging.

You should have just made a thread called "How I rationalize my alcohol use".

I wonder why cocaine was so addictive for you, my best friends mother was a crackhead and there was about a year long period of time where nearly every weekend I was either smoking crack or dropping rails. I honestly don't think I ever had any withdrawls, or cravings for it... The only thing I noticed is any time I think I'm going to do coke, or see it my, brain gets pretty excited, but other than that I never have the desire for it.

Cocaine doesn't even seem to be physically addictive, according to Erowid:

I think that's bull, if you hooked a coke addict up to a ekg machine and offered him a line, and compared that to a non-coke addict, the coke addict's brain would have a whole hell of a lot more activity than the square's.

the 2 things i've craved the most are nicotine and MDMA. after i roll hard i crave it hard for a couple months. i'm done with it now though. even though i've been smoking cigarettes for a while i don't really crave one until i get home at the end of the day to relax. i only miss pot when i CAN'T have it. haven't had any for a few weeks, and i don't even really miss it.

Take a look at what FreeVibe, the anti-drug organization, has to say about how heroin affects your brain :smirk:
