hope not...but could be if your lucky it's a pin (young shroom) forming in the jar that happens sometimes... but there are brown and slimy contams.... guess you just wait..if it turn out to be a contam, wait untill 100% colonisation, take out the cake, cut out the contam with a sterile kinfe in a sterile (at least clean) work area and case it
good luck peace

Do you have a method for air exchange? ie, filter disk or something? If not this is likely the exudation of metabolites (sweat) and the build-up of fluids in which bacteria thrive. Typical causes of this are over incubation (after it is 100% or close) and too high of a temperature, no higher than 86F. If you don't have filter disks you can just open your jars a crack every two days in a sterile box/room, this always worked well for me.
Relax my freind, sounds like you have "mushie shit". Yep thats right...shit. Incase you don't know, they eat therfor they shit. This might not be the problem however, there could be some contamination. If you were pretty good in your steli. procedure then this would be the most likly answer. If you have pads covering the jars then it would be a good idea to give air exchanges now and then. On my first batch I didn't have these pads. I loosened the lids anyway just to let a small amout of moist. to evaporate. Not recomended though. I didn't lose anything, but it could have been luck(knock on wood). If your close to the BIRTHDAY then i'd let it be for now. Good Luck!! NOTE: The color of" shit" I speak of can be mistaken for light to dark yellow.
