I inoculated 4 jars this morning. My first time, and with Creeper. Im pretty sure I fucked em up. It was hard to tell how much solution I was injecting. just something Ill get the feel for.
anyways. I learned...

If you dont have a pressure cooker, and your putting it in boiling water, put the stove top setteing on low. I put it on Med/high and water bubbled out the sides.

Mix all you substrate at once. Can get really messy if you dont.

hopefully those 2 things might help some other first time growers.

also if you are using the boiling method, get one of those metal steamers for green beans and such (they fold out like a flower) and place it on the bottom of your pot so you dont "cook" the substrate by having the jars directly on the bottom of the pot.

i was sure i messed up my first ones.... but so far they are doing fine. I did learn alot after the first sterilization & innoculation. You just have to learn that is part of it. The second time at it was much faster and easier. I already had some things prepared in adavance. well just foil and holes in the jars.

Something I found to keep the jars off the bottom if you don't have a PC is to use the bands. Take the Band and put it right side up on the bottom of the pan. Place the jars inside the bands, This keeps them about 1 cm off the bottom of the pot. I used pint sized Balls, don't know if it makes a difference.
