I went to go get some peat moss that had been sitting in my closet for months I discovered this on it. Any idea what it is? It really is that yellow and airy looking.

I don't know, but why the fuck you would want to expose it to open air inside is beyond me. hope it hasn't spooged spores all over the place with which to fuck with your next grows.

it looks like a strange mushroom mycelium I found in one of my potted plants a while back.

"To answer the several common questions: The mushrooms are not known to harm plants either and likely came in with the potting soil. There are conflicting reports about the toxicity of this fungus, with some evidence that it causes gastrointestinal upset in a very small percentage of people and other animals. However, you would likely have to eat several dozen of them for any effect. However, I advise that you do not eat them. I recommend to people to just leave the mushrooms alone and enjoy them, as they are very unlikely to cause any problems. Besides it will give you something to talk about during dinner."

It may have been around your house before, but not in those quantities. While it's impossible to id species by a photo, some yellow molds can be quite toxic, fusarium among them. RR

lol. I tossed it right after that picture. I'm sure carrying that massive bag of peat moss out my door covered my house in spores anyways. I lysoled, vacuumed and bleach bombed this morning before work though. I should be alright.

That is the "Potted Plant mushroom", Leucocoprinus birnbaumii.
