How's the quality of your cable TV?

Mine sucks. There's a delay everytime you change the channel, and you can constantly see compression: Everytime there's even a somewhat fast instance of motion, you can see loads of compression.

You aren't "seeing compression", but rather video artifacts caused by lossy compression. (Yeah, I know, anal, but you posted in Sci & Tech).
I don't have TV, so not much help there. I have seen video amplifiers help in a few cases, but without a better description of the video artifacts that you are seeing, it is hard to know what the root cause of your problem is. It could simply be the nature of the beast, especially if your cable operator offers a zillion channels.

My HD content looks good. The 5.1 sound is also crystal clear.
With my old Comcast setup, I had constant audio dropouts and video "blocking", but that has ceased with a new cablebox/account.

It's basically like a barrage of JPEG compression.

Every now and then I see those artifacts...it's not that common, so give em a break
I have digital cable, and I always thought it was good, until I got an HDTV and nothing looks impressive except for the HD channels
I'm ruined
