PF Tek Jars
#7404459 - 09/13/07 01:07 PM (16 years, 4 months ago) |

Last night i prepared pf Tek jars and put them in a pot to boil them. I meant to leave them in for an hour but i fell asleep and i woke up two hours later. Do you think that leaving them in for about 2 hours will have any negative effects on the jars.
Also I inoculated my jars today after letting them cool and I put them in the closet. Do i need to leave my jars in the sunllight for the mycelium to grow or should i leave them in the dark. I also put masking tape on the holes in the jar lids, do i need to take the tape off when i flip the jars over for gas exchange?

Two words for you, friend: Read. More.
If you're asking these kind of questions now you obviously have NO idea what you're doing. I'll be surprised if you don't lose this batch to contams.
Anyways, this isn't a hobby where you can expect everyone on here to spoonfeed you. That's all been done already, and it's written up in really easy to follow teks and information pages all over this site. Take some time before you try your hand at another grow to REALLY browse the Shroomery. The message boards are nice, but there's a lot of other pages that have enough info on them to make your head swell.
Patience is key here. Rushing never got anybody anywhere except outside dumping contaminated jars.
Again, read. READ. LOTS. READ UNTIL YOUR EYES FEEL LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO SHOOT FROM YOUR SKULL. THEN READ SOME MORE!!!
EDIT: And no, boiling them for that extra hour won't really do anything. There is a small chance it could have upset the water content if the water boiled up too high and into the jars, but unless it looks really soppy wet in them, you should be fine.

1. The jars are fine. 2. Keep them in the closet. 3. As long as you have a verm barrier it's fine to take the tape off.

Remove the tape. I wouldn't be in a hurry to flip them over. If you have them on a shelf in the open air, there is no need to turn them upside down. Light has little to no effect on colonizing mycelium so there is no need for darkness. Don't put them in direct sunlight though. Normal room temperature is fine too. RR

And this I understand perfectly fine, but like I said, all it takes is a little bit of looking to find all this stuff on here.
I wasn't trying to be mean, but all this has been written down and it's all up for grabs in the cultivation section.

I inoculated about ten jars (pf tek method) this is my first time cultivating mushrooms and what started out as fun turned into passion. They were huautlas and it took them weeks to colonize it is my first time but through many hours of research I can usually find the solutions to my problem but this one has thrown me through a loop.once my pf jars were fully colonized a consolidated them for eight days then moved them to a fruiting chamber (sgfc) since the two weeks they have been in there (no fruiting and no pinning) they have started to colonize and attach them selves to the lid is this normal or did I do something wrong if so what should I do better next time all the help is aprreciated and will not be taken for granted.they have also started to bubble up kind of like they farted and the fart can't escape.all suggestions are welcome thanks buddies

...that and just start a new thread instead of reviving one with 6 years of dormancy ;P
I still stick with my bean suggestion though.

The beans were a poor joke, don't worry.
I sent you a PM, hope it helps.
