Well dude, I would reccomend a metal rack. Most pressure cookers come with one of these. They are often aluminum and raise anything in the cooker off the bottom by about 1/4". This prevents broken jars etc. I'm not sure about a towel but I think a rack is better. Here's a pic of one from Presto (BTW you can order this as a part from them @ www.presto-net.com)

When I don't put enough in my pressure cooker to fill it (ie agar in a flask or other) I use empty jars (about 1/3 full of water) to fill the extra space, this prevent things from being tipped over or breaking against the side of the cooker as it boils very turbulently. Hope that helps!

It would be alright to use this rag you speak of. The only problem with this, is thar your going to have to find a way to stablize your jars (keep them from tipping). I have a rack for my P.cooker...work just fine. I recomend you doing alittle search to find one for yourself. Good Luck!!

thanks guy i have an alluminium trail too, i will use it... a towel... that was the word i was looking for... english isn't my first language...
