possible contam on fruited cakes?

so i picked off a bunch of like 5 mushies off my cake, and underneath the myc had a bluish color, and it didnt look like it was bruising, and they mushies caps are a lighter brown than what im getting off my other cakes. u think these are still safe?

Well from what I understand, that once mycellium has fully colonized, its much more difficult to get contamination. There are a few hundred holes in a friend's terrarium for air exchange, no problems. Once you are past the fully colonized phase, being so sterile is a bit anal-retentive.

Friend frequently has had bluing where he has grabbed or handled chunks of mycellium roughly or where he dropped them. You guessed, turns blue, not the same color blue when you pinch a shroom, but the mycellium is much whiter anyhow.

Friend says not to worry, soak in water for a few hours to rehydrate cake and wait for next wonderful mushroom growth

Your good to go, If there is blueing its just a little bruising. You can still eat a mushroom from a contaminated cake. It wont hurt you.

Unless the contam is black, then I wouldnt take any chances.
