I have read from erowid that nutmeg can make you trip. Has anyone done this? What was it like and also, how many tablespoons did you take. Last, is it ok to buy the powder at the super market or do you need to grind the nutmeg yourself?

Yeah, I did nutmeg once, but I had smoked weed on the come-up and I didn't eat enough so I didn't trip :\ It's really hard to down, it tastes like shit, and from what I understand the sickness it gives you isn't worth the trip.

I think it probably has beneficial effects, but more along the lines of Datura, Iboga, or Ayahuasca... nothing that a ignorant teenager should try.

You're the first person I've heard talk about nutmeg in a good light that it actually has benefits. Care to further explain? I hear the trip is more like having a high fever than anything.

I tried to consume this once. I now gag at even the slightest smell of nutmeg, it really does taste that awful.

I haven't done nutmeg, but someone had once told me it's like weed, but replace the good effects with bad ones + it lasts a lot longer.

For users who read this nutmeg is not that great dont confuse it with a real high from buds or shrooms nutmeg is definitly more of a my body is so sick i get a feeling of being high effect

I ate 3-4 tablespoons of grocery store (AKA parents pantry) nutmeg about 2-3 times in highschool.
I enjoyed the high, but it was just hard to get down... I had to mix it with water and take HORRIBLE tasting gag-inducing shots.
It took about 8 hours to kick in for me, so I would keep this in mind and dose 8 hours before I wanted to start feeling the effects.
I have enjoyed taking it at midnight, then waking up at 8-9am and being high on nutmeg ALL day long until I went to bed that night.
The high can be undesirable for some. To me,it was like a weed high but stronger. It didn't have quite the euphoria that pot does, but the amount of "spacedoutness" was impressive. The visual distortions were the good fading of peripheral vision you get off some strong weed. Things seemed very strange.
My favorite part was the auditory halluciniations. I would hear someone talk that was to my left, but it would sound like they were on my right. I would also hear different sounds, animals, and noises that weren't actually there.
The short term memory loss was pleasant, and strong, and an overall feeling of "really really stoned" was felt, as apposed to "really really high" like a heavy body load but with a good enough dose very interesting effects.
Don't knock it till you've tried it, in a good dose. It may seem childish to eat nutmeg b/c its a "spice that mom and dad buy at the grocery store" but if this was some tribal culture without modernization or capitalization, nutmeg, IMO, could easily be regarded as a potent entheogen like the rest of them.
I would recommend fresh-ground nutmegs. But if your gonna go store-bought, at least don't get generic and go with name brand like McCormick, for quality.
PS. Don't do nutmeg in highschool... its not the kinda high you wanna get caught with by your parents and it lasts a REALLY long time. It can dry you out and make your eyes looked CASHED as well as make you get chink-eyed... VERY easy to get accused of being "high on pot" but you get much more confused then pot so its hard to keep it together in a moment of high pressure. Not to mention it lasts 24 hours...

I tried a bit one day...
Taste was bad, yes, but I managed it by putting it in hot chocolate.
I didn't feel a good high and basically, all i could do was lay down. I could not walk straight and standing was hard. My eyes looked terribly red. I fell asleep for most of it though.
It took about 45 mins for it to kick in and lasted about eight hours.
If you do use it... don't make it more than once a month. It is terrible for the liver and the next day you will feel that.
I had bought some whole nutmeg and ground it myself. Never again.
