Stem: yellow/orange/brown similar to gills/cap but slightly darker
Cap: caramel color, gradienting between yellow/orange to red/orange
Spore print: rusty orange
Bruising: No noticeable color changes from bruising.
Location: forest area

Were these growing directly from wood?
In a cluster?

yea directly out of the wood. I wouldn't say they were in a cluster, there were a few of them together in groups on the wood, but not a cluster per se

look alot like gyms to me, but I'm a gym noob. Is the stem firm and solid or hollow?

the stem is moderately firm.. and when it is squeezed the stem it feels like its hollow, however when it is cut it, it's not obviously hollow

hmm, im starting to think gym too, I just was reading information on them and it seems to fit expecially the rusty orange spore print... hmm, are any gyms poisonous, or should I take further measures to id them? thanks again guys
UPDATE: I just did a taste test on the fresh mushroom, and it is quite bitter (I was reading this is also a sign it could be a gym)

Yes, probably gyms.
Make sure it isn't Galerina, which have smoother caps.

Gyms have little fibers on the cap surface.
> I cant take a picture of the spore print if people think that could help? thanks,
It would help some, but Galerina also has rusty brown spores.
What we really need is better pictures - Taken with a nice digital camera on macro mode, so we can see all the little details.
Habitat shots would help a lot as well.
