Don't really have a favorite.

I really like this track.
I think it's from a '71 show, don't know though.

I cannot say that I could fairly pick a favorite. I like each for a different reason. The Grateful Dead are timeless like that you know. Well a few of my favorites are...

Estimated Prophet
The Eleven Jam
Mountains of the Moon
China Doll
China Cat Sunflower

... and thats only a handful.

I am in the process of making a set of road trip cd´s called ¨Smoking with (insert band´s name)¨ and so far I have smoking with The Grateful Dead vol.1, Pink Floyd vol.1, The Beatles vol.1, Bob Marley, and Radiohead. With plans to make more volumes to the ones already mentioned and also Smoking with Incubus, Jimi Hendrix, Burning Spear, and a few more.

Stella Blue is one of my favorites as well!

But there's really no answer to this question for me, Eyes of the World is up there too!

And Ripple of course:grin:

Ha ha what an impossible question. It all depends on the mood I'm in. Right now its probably wharf rat. later maybe Mexicali Blues. Way too huge and diverse a catalogue to pick a fave.

i'm one of the few that prefers the helpontheway>slip more than the franklins  i don't know what it is!

but scarlet's level of complication and the beautiful melody that goes along with it blows my mind. not to mention the vivid and colorful lyrics, followed up by a melodic guitar solo (usually :smirk:).

but who else other than the dead could make 2-chord songs like franklin's and fire sound like such an orchestra :gd_icon:

dont say that. you gotta go for the whole meal. help>slip>frank is a feast for the synapsis. the heavy duty introspective spacyness of help on the way builds to a blistering blaze that erupts into slipknot. that they cools into the upbeat jumpy  franklins tower. its the perfect trip for your head and feet
also franklin has 4 chords if ya wanna get techncal.
