Hey Lenore,
I realize that your not posting a ?. But I have to say that I havn't lost any jars do to contamination, using my P.cooker. My opionin is that this is the only way to go.
On the other hand, I also realize that not everyone can afford a P.cooker, or even find one, do to what ever reasons. So I think your doing a great job by experimenting. Keep up the good work!!
Besure and let us know how things turn out.
Also you said that the MYCL. stopped it's growth. Well i'm hoping you didn't birth the cakes half colo. You didn't mention this. Anyway if your not aware this is a very bad thing. I don't mean offend you (i'm not sure if your an experienced mushie grower or not).
NOTE: I am a professional chef by trade he..he. Well I do know that when using a microwave, it only cook's the water molo. that are in the food. The same would be for the substrate. If any part of the substrate is dry then this area, might not be completely
cont. free.

If your not living on the edge....Then your taking up to much space.

the only reason i tried this tek is because i don't have access to a p cooker right now. Anyway the cakes were partially colonized when i birthed them, but i cut off most of the uncolonized areas. maybe it will work, maybe not. oh well i've got nothing better to do.
