LOL, yeah Subbs are definatley not my favorite mushroom to hunt. This is the first season i have been able to find them though so i am kinda stoked on finding a new mushroom to me! I hate picking in peoples yards. My normal picking spot has no houses around it at all. The only thing i need to worry about is other pickers and beers.

beers and other pickers sounds like a picnic. I kinda like the adrenaline rush from yard hunting.

yeah doing a quick yard dash can be fun. I like to concentrate more on picking and less on the persons front door.

went by my patch again today, only 3 MEATY fruits, I left em to drop spores.
ill head back tomorrow for some habitat photos of the mature fruits, if not ill definitely head out in the next few days for a harvest, temps are supposed to drop down again and they usually fruit heavy whenever there is a cold break in the weather.
good to know the magic has found you fliped.

NEWLY LAYED SOD
i cant stress it enough its also common on horse manure piles behind stables and things, but to tell you the truth all the specimens of those were weak as hell

long time ago picked all those on horse piles, ate all the the ones u can see in the second photo after they dried, in one big handful barely did shit.

Definately a nice find, looks like you use a celly to take the pics though.

I have yet to see them on newly laid sod. YMMV, but the only places I've seen them are in older yards in small numbers, and in manured mulch.
I went by a grass farm yesterday, and they had sod out front in stacks. A quick survey turned up nada, but they could have been crushed between the stacked squares of sod.
So far, I've yet to find a bumper crop of subbs. Maybe I'll buy some fresh sod and spray spores all over it... I have a couple spore prints around here somewhere.

Those are probably the most beautiful find ive ever seen of them. so meaty and mature. I am jealous cuz that blows my finds away.
