It could be mycelium, but I doubt it. If it's not white and it has a bad smell it's contaminated. How long did it take for the jars to fully colonize? Contams take hold pretty quick. If it took less than 3 weeks to fully colonize it's most likely contaminated. I would guess that it is probably cobweb mold. Did you use a pressure cooker to sterilize the jars prior to inoculation?

If there is no smell your probably good. Have the "hairs" spread all over the perlite not just an inch or two from the cake but almost covering the whole bottom of the fruiting chamber? A little fuzziness is to be expected but if there is drastic growth in a short period of time it's most likely contaminated. Give it a few more days it usually takes me about a week to start seeing pins. If the white "hairs" all of the sudden turns brown than it's definitely contaminated.

Cobweb doesnt smell like anything really best way to get rid of it is peroxide and fae.cobweb is also pretty white so it is hard to tell the diff from that and cube mycelium.

It could also be rhizomorphic growth, which is a good thing.
The above pictures depict extremely rhizomorphic growth.

The diff between that and cobweb is look how thick the rizo's are cobweb is extremely thin.

peroxide does hurt cube mycelium just not as much as cobweb.peroxide is lethal to cobweb what i would do is mist with straight peroxide up the fae.You might have to give it a peroxide treatment for 2-3 days (1 time a day)
