I just bought myself a nice 15-1/2 quart All American for $50. I can't wait. I have had bad luck with rye due to lack of pressure cooking capabilities. Now rye will become my bitch.

The only bummer is that it doesn't come with a manual. How does this thing work? Does it use rockers or does it have another means of controlling the pressure?

I love my All American. They are the sturdiest pressure cookers I have seen. I paid $130 for mine. I don't know how big it is but I can fit a hole case (12) of quart jars. Mine is simple to operate. The lid clamps down with big ass wing nut looking things and it has a weight on the top to hold the pressure at 15 psi. I just load it up, put it on the range, let the pressure build till the weight starts to rock, turn back the heat to maintain the temp, and start timing.

I was able to find a pdf version of the All American manual. I am so excited and can't wait until my pressure cooker arrives. This brand of pressure cooker looks like such a tank. I was prepared to buy a used presto for $50 and then came across this.
