Has anyone actually compared these two? I figured the rye would yeild more and return better results but i dont know i have seen some 60% peat, 30% vermiculite and 10% limestone flour beat rye and rye beat 60% peat, 30% vermiculite and 10% limestone flour ...what yall think?

A casing layer is supposed to be non-nutritive, so I have no idea what the fuck you're trying to get at.

EDIT: Oh, you're talking substrate. You don't use rye as a casing material. You might want to do a bit more reading. Rye as a substrate, however, cased usually in the same casing mix you're talking about generally performs a lot better than regular PF-style BRF cakes cased in the same mix.
