OK so i was going to post some pics of my 5 new lophophora's but i had just enough battery in my crap camera to get my light pics up.
so i went to the local feed/hardware store and i found these cool fluro lights, they are 40 usd and my friend gets 25% off because he works there.
it is a "shop light" but it has 2, 100 watt fluro bulbs, you can either turn on either side or both at once, i got 2 of them for my e.coca, grafts, lophophora's, salvia, other ethnos but no _ cacti like San Pedro, torch, bridgesii because it would not even be close to enough light, but perkip and bridgesii monstrous do very good under it.

Hmm...so theres a big difference between what Bridgesii monstrose needs and what regular bridgesii needs? That's strange...
What kind light do you use for your cacti?

only sunlight and i would not use anything else unless i want to fill my whole basement full of 1000w hps and pay a shit ton on power, i take my cacti out in the spring when i think the temps will stay above 45 deg F and they stay out until the temps drop below that for at least a week.
and yes i find that bridgesii monstrose dosent need as much light to strive as a regular bridgesii

i am alsmost ready to go pick up the last 2 light systems, because 32 dollars is not bad at all for the whole system with the 2 lights included

no i put them in to hibernation outside when i know it is almost time to come in and i bring them in a throw them in my basement for the winter, there is some light that comes in through the windows and when my wife is down there doing the laundry but it is not enough to keep a houseplant alive
i like my cacti to look nice, fat, uniform (no stretching)
if you bring your cacti in with out putting them to sleep and put a small light on them then they will stretch bad, wait i though you have been growing san Pedro for 3 years??

So you think it causes streching if you put a light on them in the winter? Because I always put a small light on mine during the winter...
I know putting them in hibernation involves not watering them, but is there anything esle I can do to prep' them for winter?...
Also...how often do you water your cacti during winter?
I water about once a month for Trichos...but I now fear that is to much...(just remember I use a light)

My T.cuzcoensis("peruvianus") looks a bit stretched but none of my pedros do...

yeperz, you can also cut the rot off or treat the wounds with differnt anti rot products. Sulfur comes to mind.

yes but imo whn the cacti gets root rot, before you know it has root rot it starts to rot parts of the cactus!!

Still possible to save it right? or would that be like stem rot.. Which i still think that might be savable by cutting off the rot correct? Cacti seem pretty hardy to me, I havent gotten my hands on any yet though

yes i have preformed surgery on a few of my cacti when i was a noob and watered too much and they lived through it no problem and still are missing a chunk ,other cacti i had to cut the roots and the tip off because the tip is usually the first think to go from my experience
good thing i haven't had to deal with that in a while

if your talking about your true blue 100% pure non-hybridized genetically superior T. peruvianus, u need to wait for it to have roots before it can get root rot lol squeeze test teo, squeeze test.

yea i was moving some stuff around last night so i will have room for some of my new loph's and i agree, so i am going to use those lights for salvia, coca and the cacti/grafts etc will be going under the 400 watt hps like they were last year, when they were under it last year it seemed that they flowered all the time, i even had super small ones flowering
also after spending well over 1K on them and some up to 350 usd i want them to get the best
hmmm speaking of flowering i have about 20 different fruit sacks full of seeds that i have been waiting to pluck off :-)) i got like 20-30 seeds out of the last one :-)

something about HPS that lophs adore man... mine have been under a 600w all year and have flowered and fruited continuously
mine average between 10 & 15 seeds per pod, sometimes 20 but not often... im lazy to help with pollination though... but still ive harvested well over 1000 seeds in the last 6 months
