dead mycelium????

I was wondering...Here in North Georgia, like all other Southern states, we have seen 100+ temps and no rain this summer. How does this ultimately affect mushroom growth. Im not just asking about actives like weilii or cubensis. Does harsh weather conditions like this kill mycelium? Does the spores from the "spring flushes" have to create all new mycelium? What I am really trying to ask is...How long after optimal growing conditions should I(we) expect to see some good mushroom activity? Do I(we) have to wait 3-5 weeks or should we start to see growth immediately?

Please dont reply with ****read the rules**** This is not a question totally about recent weather. This is a question on mushroom growth patterns, active and\or inactive.

Actually, that's a pretty good question. Mycellium doesn't last forever. Spores go everywhere, carried by the wind (far away), they fall on the same substrate they originated. Creating more mycellium colonies.
In the time when it's supposed to be getting larger and there is no moisture, I believe it becomes just about dormant, but still alive. When the rain comes it throws up fruit bodies to spread the species.
Here in SC we've had a brutal season, yet I was surprised to see how quick the mushrooms come up from just a [relatively] small amount of rainfall.
That tells me that the mycellium is there and just waiting for conditions to be right so it can produce fruit bodies.
For example, right time of year, no moisture, no posts of active finds. We had just a day or two of rain (still relatively a small amount) and bam! we see posts.
