L7 - Pretend we're Dead
Whats up with whats going down In every city, in every town Cramping styles is the plan Theyve got us in the palm of every hand
When we pretend that were dead When we pretend that were dead They cant hear a word weve said When we pretend that were dead
Turn the tables with our unity They neither moral nor majority Wake up and smell the coffee Or just say no to individuality
When we pretend that were dead When we pretend that were dead They cant hear a word weve said When we pretend that were dead
Come on, come on, come on come on
When we pretend that were dead When we pretend that were dead They cant hear a word weve said When we pretend that were dead
--------------------------------------------------------------
What will it take for you to stand up against your government and the powers that be? And by stand up I mean activism on one of it's many forms to a degree where you feel committed to it.

What will it take for me and probably every other stoner in the US to stand up and tell off the morons that run this country? Unfourtunatly, gas money to get there, enough money to have food and a place to crash for as long as we hold out, and probably booze and bud...and the hope that we have enough numbers to outweigh the mornic republican christian party baby boomers.
I just hate that thats not even close to what its going to take to change the zombified minds of 30 million greedy, fat lazy slobs who rather be spoon fed lies, then read the truth.

Honestly I'm giving it a 1 in 100 shot that Bush instigates executive order and retains the Presidency but if he does, I don't care about my job, my life, money, anything... I'm doing whatever I can to get to DC... okay let's be honest... the new capital in Crawford, Texas to do whatever I can to get that cocksucker out of power. I've thought about this a lot and I would do this for my country despite the implications or possible jail or even death sentences it would bring.
With that said though I doubt it'll happen, it's bad politics. The next administration will probably be a lot worse than the current administration.

I know its really sad, especially since im in the lazy good for nothing stoner party, but the biggest problem i see with the whole "stand up and rebel" is that once we have some kind of audiance to listen to us, whats our plan? Do we have a course of action, cure for anything that paugues this country other than...no i dont think that right...maby this will work..
I sure as hell dont, i have no idea how to tell anyone else to live, its not my right to, or anyone elses.
I dont know, im not a politician, all i know is we need to find a solution to the probems of our country before we decide we should govern the rest of the world. I can offer suggestions, but i have no set in stone way to fix all the problems we have built over the past century.

We're an international community. This thread is strictly between people and their government. If you are an American, its about the US Government. If you're a Frenchman, it's about the French government and/or the EU.
Worldwide there is a trend where government control gets an increasing hold over its people. Privacy issues of Orwellian proportions are seriously at stake today. There's scare politics being used, the dissent of the populations is rising. There's an increasing sense among people that shit's going too far.
What will it take for you to stand up against your government and the powers that be? Quite a legitimate question in this day and age.
How rebellious or conformist is the Shroomery?

L7 was quite a decent band that got unnoticed by many people. If it plugs a relatively unknown band, adds some music to peoples playlists and the lyrics are somewhat supportive of the topic, while being generic enough to not taint the issue, why not?

Not much I can do really. I guess if it comes down to it I'll strap a nuclear device to myself and run at the Treasury / Parliament / FBI hq / NSA hq / IAO hq.
Well.. Actually I'd probably gather political support and express my liberal-leftist veiws and become a propaganda hound and then march on washington/london/UN council/Beijing/Tokyo/Moscow.

Anyway Wiccan, what will it take for you to rebel?
True maliciousness on my government's part. If I lived in the US I would be at or over the treshold. I live in Holland however and a lot will have to happen here before my line is crossed.
I like to think that in Nazi Germany (or occupied Holland) I would've been in the resistance. We all like to think that, but you only know when you're on the spot, right?
When you throw a toad in a pot of hot water he'll jump out immediately, but if you put him in a pot of cold water and slowly heat that, he'll stay put until he's boiled.
I think that if America went from 1987 to 2007 in one go, the whole nation would stand up against the government. There you were as the Land of the Free being afraid of the USSR, and then you wake up one morning and find yourself in the USSA.
What's rebelling? At what degree does it start?
At the moment I'm rebelling by not believing in all the bullshit, by speaking my mind and not buying into the gloom and doom they use to try control us. I'm critical of authority and watchful of tricks used to manipulate the masses. I'm by no means rich but I pulled my "wealth" out of the international monetary system so that their underhanded monetary schemes, dirty economic tricks and blatant inflational thievery won't affect me, and won't fund their bullshit any longer. I provide the people around me with insights, food for thought and encourage them to be aware and think for themselves. And I do all this without buying into the fear tactics and the hype, and live as free of it as I can.
Thats my current level of rebellion. In Holland I'm far away from a Nazi-Germany type situation where rebellion turns into resistance. In America however you may be much closer to that.
Because in case you haven't noticed, they've started slowly heating the pot six years ago on this very same day, September 11.

Yeah, I'm slightly worried about that, which is honestly disgusting. In real America citizens should not be afraid of their government.

I tell you what, If my friends/family disappear quietly in the night you can be sure ah hell I won't go quietly in the night. . . I will go loudly in the day time.

And we need jails for those who order the men to visit. Lots of jails, where once powerful men can gain insight when they happen to compare in their minds the assrape they just recieved in the showers to what they had been doing in their respective offices.

i put i can take much more.
if there is ever undeniable proof that the government is intentionally poisoning people
if there is ever mass arrests or mass excecutions outside of the realm of reason
if i see an alien space ship on tv and everyone is absolutely certain it is real
if we wage a pointless war that threatens the whole world openly for evil reasons (irag doesn't count because its not openly evil)
if anyone i know and love is ever killed or harmed greatly by the government for evil reasons
i think thats pretty much it.
my standing up to the government would take the form of me being a homeless street preacher. the homelessness just so people understand i'm serious.
