Is it bad to lightly mist cakes?

I have some cakes that are taking forever to show pinheads. One just started 2 days ago and the mushys on that are well over an inch and a half.
I think my cakes might be to dry. Is it alright to lightly mist my cakes? Only 1 of 8 has mushrooms on it.
Thanks,
eleven34

it should be fine to mist, dont mist directly, spray upward so fine fine mist falls into ur fruiting chamber.
How long has it been since u birthed them.
From birthing it can take a week for pins to form then upto another week to mature.
Get a decent humidity meter, calibrate it and use that to check ur humidity.
Perlite should be able to keep humidity high enough if used correctly.
Keep in mind that it will take a day to stabilise and when u fan humidity may drop but will stabilise again..
Be patient, they will come.
After ur first flush dunk to rehydrate, i have heard this gives good results. It will not harm ur cakes. drop ur cakes into a pot of water and weigh down to they are submerged for 12-24 hours. roll in verm and back into the fruiting chamber.

It is necessary to mist. If you have enough air exchange to trigger pinning, it will generally dry out your cakes. Replace this moisture by misting gently a few times per day. RR

Gentle misting (as described above) will not damage pins.
