OFFICIAL: Weekly Weeds/Californication Thread...

Since no one else has started one, I will...
Okay, Weeds was funny tonight...
The christian school abortion murder mystery...
U-Turn buying a fleet of hybrid Priases because they're quiet and good for sneaking up on people on drive-bys...
The endangered saber-fanged swamp rat...
Good stuff...
Oh, and Californication was good too, as always...
Hank Moody in the catholic girls' school, and his rant on Henry Rollins, about the dumbing down of the english language on the internet, was cool too...
However, I'm still deeply suspicious of Hollywood screen-writers -- even when they are ironically mocking themselves and their own culture -- actually, even more so, when they are aggressively auto-cannibalizing their own culture with a detached ironic-cool reminiscent of a well-worn, dogeared, paperback copy of Baudrillard...
All such digressions and editorial hyperbole aside, my favorite episode was still the one, two weeks ago, where Hank threw up all over a piece of shitty LA art!

I'm in love with Californication. Its my favorite new show. Weeds was pretty damn good tonight though.
I just can't wait for Dexter. Showtime has really shown up HBO this year.
I still think Californication is beautifully written and Hank is my new personal hero.

This weeks episodes were both pretty funny in my opinion. I was pretty surprised to see that Meredith was the one to leave Hank. I knew it was coming but I figured it'd be Hank that left her.

They killed off U-Turn!
His character was just starting to grow on me, but I guess this means she'll get to keep the horse... probably not, conflict and struggle means a good plot...

At least she doesn't owe him money anymore... wonder whats gonna happen with that H. I think I like Californication better too... It just seems that in Weeds, nothing happens until the end of each episode. but i still watch it every week

Im so pissed they killed off u turn, im sure there was a good reason for it, but he got funnier and funnier each week and it's going to suck not to hear his quips anymore.

I'm definately excited for Dexter. I thought the storyline towards the second half of the season was cheesy, but I really like the characters. Anyone read the books?

Ya know, the best goddamn fucking dialog-line in Californication is this...
"I love women! I've got all their albums."
It's so fucking true, and I think, this is why I've decided that Hank Moody is my new anti-hero, existentialist, hero. It's such a true, and simple, statement, and it cuts to the very core of the whole matter... But I sometimes forget this, in my old age, and in my mid-life, existential, infirmary...
If this doesn't make sense to you, now, then don't worry, it will make more than sense some fine day...

And another thing, I thought, while watching tonight's re-run... That this was a very tasteful Warren Zevon lyric choice:
Don't let us get sick Don't let us get old Don't let us get stupid, all right? Just make us be brave And make us play nice And let us be together tonight.
--Warren Zevon

i watched the rerun of weeds, this time around i noticed the little kid looks fat and his voice is deeper. if he changes much more were gunna have seventh heaven on our hands with mary kate...dam she so does not fit the show and pretending to be a virgin tops it all, every word that comes out of her mouth was lame. her acting was much better on full house.

Why am I posting at 4am in this rather old thread? Well, I just finished the first season of Californication. I had been watching it via on-demand. (IN which I started the last 5 episodes around 12am.) God damn that was a good show!
Well, I'm kind of tired so I'll leave it at that. (Forgive the pointless post.) Please discuss and I will post more tomorrow!
