Had a spiritual encounter with my dog today.

First of all, i had a black lab / rot for over 15 years. He died last year, and 5 days later this stray shows up in my backyard.

He was a total house dog, that came when u called, sat and all that, and when he came in the first time he jumped right on the couch and layed down. He even spent the night in my bed (after i checked for fleas) It was strange, but no one was looking for him. He became my dog after we couldn't find the original parent, so i got him his dogie medical care and microchip-ed etc.
Today i stopped in to play with him for a few and we went out back. For some reason i became curious about the garage so i opened it and he immediately stuck his head on this box and wouldn't move. I grabbed the box and peeled it open and there were 5 or so mice living in there!
One of the mice shot out and tried to run away and Guinness (my dog) grabbed him, paralyzing it from the waste down with a bite. I don't think he ever killed anything before because of the look on his dog face. He knew he had hurt it because it squealed, but he was still bent on playing so he took it around the side of the garage and layed down next to it. For a few minutes i watched the dying mouse try to crawl away and Guinness would grab it with his mouth again ever so gently, like he was going to nurse it back to health. I got bummed out and grabbed a log, and the dog by the neck forcing the mouse out of its mouth with my shoe. Then, to my dogs objection, i finished it off by crushing it (effectively putting it out of its misery.) He layed back down by it and cried a little dog cry, while his ears perked up and pawed at the body some. Then he sprang up and started kicking the ground in remorse. he took turns pawing the dirt trying to get the blood off his hands and sat there nudging the dead body, then looking up at me.
I let him get his closure, then called him back inside. He sat by me and i talked to him about what happened. He watched my lips move very intently. When i finished speaking he kind of nodded and put his head in my lap. I pat him then left. It was spiritual because I think we really communicated with each other. He really conveyed his emotions to me, and showed empathy. This dog has some strange qualities wouldn't you say? Funny it seems like he found me, and we were pre destined to meet, or perhaps he was sent, reincarnate or both. What soul does an animal posses?

It reminds me of the moral of the story Bill tells in 'Kill Bill' about B.B. stomping on the goldfish to see what happens.

Nuh uh. You should see the cute way my pet ant wiggles its antennae at me when it is 'telling' me something profound.

One cannot hide one's true nature. Reactive anger and violence is the sign of an ungrounded individual with many personal issues and is as far from any mystical understanding or outlook as one can get.
Instead of projecting on some unknown poster, try to discover the source of your rage and release it and you will grow dramatically.

Thanks waix, I have noticed a differnt quality to thier emotional response/ rationalization with respect to the soul compaired to humans. Its a great perspective of which to anylize yourself: How would my dog react. (no fear, no ego, uncomplicated social standards etc..)
