I was planning on just throwing 2 cakes in my FC last night so i threw them in the fridge. This evening when i got home i decided i mine as well spawn them to coir. I did so. Will the cold shock effect the spawning process?
ie- will the pin initiation of the cold 24 hrs prevent the myc from spreading?
No worries if it does, they were just left-over jars

It won't halt colonization of bulk substrates, but it will temporarily slow it down. Ps. Cubensis mycelium needs time to recover from low temperatures.
Cubensis is a sub-tropical species. Please don't cold shock. It's not necessary. It will only postpone your harvest.

I completely agree. I've grown many edible strains, and the only difference I've seen between dunking them in the fridge versus dunking them at room temperature is the difference between when actual pinning occurs.

I almost fell into that trap of thinking cold shocking was literally shocking em with really cold, but lots of reading cleared that up.
The cold, just like most other organisms will be slown down. this can be usefull with grain to grain transfers where u keep 1 colinised jar to inoc other jars. so u can keep that longer than in room temps
