i have 3 jars that been incubating for 11 days. 1 jar is showing about a quarter size of mycellium but the other two have nothing not even a spec. i just moved them to a warmer location form 72-74 to now about 80-83 degrees. if they dont show signs of growth for a while then i was going to try and put some more spore solution in them. just wondering if anyone tried before. if not ill update yall in a little.

What did you use to inoculated them and how much?
Usually there is another issue present and its not a good idea to reinoculate anything.
Could be moisture level, could be bad spores, could be many things. Give us more detail.
Its better to scrap it and start over.

If you have more spore solution, don't waste it on bad jars, empty the bad ones, STERILIZE them and then start over. Or just buy more jars. If they didn't grow there's a reason for it and they probably wont grow with more spores.

Bird seed is cheap. Don't reinoculate, just make new jars.

Agreed. And that smell is bacteria, and that means you likely have your grain too wet. Or maybe a temp issue.

Ive tried it a few times just for the hell of it the problem is by the time ya give up on your 1st inoculation your grains may have dried out and unless the problem with the 1st inoculation was inviable spores your second inoculation will often fail for the same reason the 1st one did

Well I'm too fucking lazy to pour new ones so I threw some contaminated plates into the pc and killed them. I intend to add new happy mushrooms to them when I run into something worth cloning. The PC didn't erase the contaminants but hey at least they don't grow anymore.Yeah I know it's messy and not good sterile practice but I'm in this for me...I don't work in a lab. I added yeast to the mix when I made it (PDA) so I figure a little dead green mold is good for the mix too.
