Phish?

What is the phenomena behind this band? I've given them more than a healthy chance, but I still cannot see them as anything more than a bland version of The Grateful Dead.
Musically, very impressive. Vocals are very generic and overall their music doesn't seem to have any spirit.
Anyone else feel this way?

not to set anyone off, but I feel the same way. I have tried to honestly listen to them many of times, I just got nothing out of it.

I never really like Phish until I heard the song "You Enjoy Myself". I'm still no Phish Head but I do like to listen to their music now. And as for the Phish phenomena it baffles me just as much as the whole Dead Head thing, couldn't tell ya

Agreed. They're not bad, but I don't think they're that good either.
Love the Dead and all related though.

My friend is a big fan, but I only like maybe 20% of their stuff... Although I really like any good version of "Divided Sky" and a few of their others.

well i think a big part of the reason it became a "phenomena" was because jerry died and deadheads still wanted to tour, so the next biggest thing was phish i guess
i really don't know, but i just can't seem to get into them either. Although i think trey is a pretty darn talented guitarist

I'm not a big fan, but I support anything associated with the psychedelic movement.

It gets blander than the Dead???
I disagree with your statement, I enjoy Phish, but really don't like the Dead. I do find that some of Phish's jams can be really shitty though. I like 'em, but I wouldn't say they're awesome or anything.

Yeah I know alot of people who loved phish for a while and then it sort of got old real quickly. Sometimes comes off as meaningless jammy music with off-center unsingable/undancable songs. They are talented, but put some soul into it!

Bland version of the Grateful Dead? Their sound has nothing in common with the Grateful Dead except for the fact they they improvise. Sure you aren't thinking of Dark Star Orchestra?
