2 rather large meals a day?
    #7391595 - 09/10/07 11:28 AM (16 years, 4 months ago)

I should probably change my meal plan, it relegates me to 12 meals a week, and this is sort of what happens

if you're trying to lose weight, eat 4-6 small meals throughout the day. it will keep you're metabolism more active

sometimes I do 1 large lunch and thats it. Or just fruit for breakfast, than a large lunch and thats that. Usually when I'm at home I'll over eat just because its there. When I'm away I cant really over eat.

Not good, Hyper Panda. If you are trying to go in the right direction with your health, stop looking for short cuts.

Demius is correct- eating more frequent, smaller meals is the way to go if you are trying to lose weight. When you eat infrequently your body goes into starvation mode- it slows your metabolism in order to hang onto fat.

Eating small meals also allows your stomach to shrink making you feel full sooner and making it difficult to eat large (excessive) meals.

Yeah, you don't want those guts getting bloated stretched out.

Gotta remember to stop eating because satiety usually sets in WELL after you've stuffed your face. I try eating a little bit slower and chewing my food more thoroughly. I used to eat so quickly that by the time I stopped for a breather, I was damn near ready to puke.

Mmm, good advice but tough to actually achieve

My meal plan (actual cafeteria plan I paid for, not something I set up) only allows for 12 meals a week, so I guess I could eat 4-6 small meals but it would almost consist exclusively of bagels and fruit

It doesn't really help I dont have a job and cant afford my own groceries at the moment

What about two average meals a day with snackin (again, like apples and bagels) between?

Would some cottage cheese and an apple be classed as a meal?

Cottage cheese is the bomb.

Yes, the snacks will help a lot if you eat like one apple and one bagel twice oper day in between your other bigger meals. Have a lunch time snack and a night time one while getting regular breakfasts and dinners and you will be set well, or at least way better off than you were. It is great you can sneak a few items every day, just try and be cool about it so that privalege doesn't get pulled away. I think taking a fruit and a grain product with you after every meal you eat might get a little suspicious after awhile. Personally I don't mind stealing bread, even when my cups already over filled. Well like I HAVE to walk past the people who serve food whenever I do it and as of yet they've nothing to say

I think it's because there's always a surplus, but thanks for the confirmation (it's what I've been doing so far)
