ID Request...

Species #1:

Habitat: Found in some wood chips in my front yard, I have no idea what kind of wood chips though.

Gills: Fairly condensed gills, connected fully to the stem and the edge of the cap, white in color

Stem: about 1 inch in diameter, 1.5-2inches tall. seems fairly dense, though I think it's hollow on the inside. Fibrous strands go almost strait up vertically.

Cap: Red with a small dimple on the center. about 2in. in diamter.
Spore print color: Not sure, but it is light, probably white.

Bruising: No noticable bruising

Location: Virginia, USA.

Species #2:

Habitat: Found in some leave covered grounds by my house. In a shallow patch of woods.

Gills: There are gills under the cap, but they appear to be covered by some sort of small film that is white with redish brown portions on it.

Stem: About 3-4in. tall, .5-1in. in diamter. Fairly fibrous, mostly patterned in a vertical.. pattern.

Cap: light brown with dark red spots on it. Those little specs are all over it that are familiar in the tradition Amanita pictures.

Spore print color: Not sure, but it looks to be of a whiteish color, to I haven't taken one yet.

Bruising: No noticable bruising

Location: Virginia, USA.

Species #1 is one of the dozens of red Russula.

The second is too mutilated to really tell... it may have had potential to be an Amanita, but now i just can't tell.

1) Red peppery Russula
2) Amanita flavoconia or one of those other red non-muscaria warted Amanitas.
