new species for me, pretty sure on the ID, but figured I'd post just in case I missed something , cortinariaceae kinda scares me but these seem easy enough to tell from the rest, might try them out tomorrow:
Habitat: on ground in old coniferous forest, around 3700'
Gills: white to light brown. sinuate or adnexed.
Stem: Whitish, tough, slightly enlarged at base. thick membranous veil.
Cap: light yellowish-orange-brown, not really smooth, 'wrinkly', 2-5 inches. whitish 'bloom'(?) on top.
Spore print color: brown
Bruising: None observed.
Location: WA cascades

supposedly they are being studied for their antiviral properties, pretty nifty... saw them a couple weeks ago, had never noticed them before and didn't know what they were so I passed them up. they are fruiting heavily here this year though. came over the mountains today and found a bagful pretty easily, but not as easily as a couple weeks ago, it's getting pretty dry out.
Hypomyces luteovirens, another new one for me. almost thought I finally found some lobsters, but alas, it was not to be
a colorful Leccinum something or other
shaggy manes growing out of the side of the road
also found a bunch of wooly chants, russulas and a few small Boletus mirabilis that I didn't get shots of.
Mount Rainier off in the distance

hypomyces luteovirens is listed as inedible everywhere I looked. If you cut the parasitized mushrooms open, they're really tough and they have little pockets of some strange liquid all over inside, not very appetizing.

Looks like Rozites caperata to me. The caps and stems should darken somewhat with age to close to the spore color and the older, not rotten mushrooms, should smell very good, the same kind of smell as a rich broth.
