Maximum Incubation Temperature
    #7388371 - 09/09/07 02:41 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Well I know the optimum temperature for incubation is around 86F but what is the maximum they will withstand and not die?

Don't go above 100 or so. And above 86, growth will slow down.

I actually think more around 83 is optimum. And if your using grains I definitely wouldn't go above 86.

I'm not sure what is hot enough to kill them, when I used to use a tub in tub I caught it and 98 degrees but I didn't leave it like that so they didn't die,I prefer not to incubate at all and just let them be at room temp and avoid the headache

Stamets says 106 = myc death.
Like you said, room temp is good. Unless your room is hot.

I heard at 90*F they will slow significantley and start to die, but I'm not sure if the dying part is true.

I've had most luck at 80-83*F

i have a shoebox in my room with a really small reptile light kinda mounted on the jars and its a pain in the ass because if i leave it on for too long (6 hrs+) it gets up to 90, but then sometimes it only gets up to 80, and its a big pain in the ass because i find i could grow a tree faster than mush incubated at 70.

Anyways i've had them up at 90 a few times and the myc hasnt died yet

Put it inside a cooler, to keep in the heat. I have a big styrofoam cooler with a heatbomb-variant inside. It's a Sterilite tub that fits into the bottom of the cooler, holds about 2-3 gallons. Cut a hole, drop the heater in.

I run the heater for 3-6 hours every other day or so, it works great.
