So I got a hold of a free syringe of PF from a reputable vender that having a buy one get one free special. With the free syringe I decided I would make atleast a pilimnary effort of write a full Microwave PF tek. Fallowing PF tek as far as moisture and substrate I prepped my jar. Next I popped the sucker in the microwave in a dish of water, like you would do if you were boiling. 13min on high and that sucker was burning hot. Now a week later and the Myclium growth is exactly where it would be doing a tek properly :-D. Ofcourse it hasn't gotten to the fruiting sage yet, but alittle hope was all I was looking for to began with. I'll update if it goes south, or post pictures if it works out.

I used the microwave to sterilize a PF tek jar (rice/verm half pint). I didn't put anything over the lid. I'm in no way saying it's the best way or even a good way to grow your mushies, just something I'm experimenting with. I did only one jar with 1cc of PF this first time. I'll do 3 varied jars of some other strain next time.

I'd think you'd loose moisture since the microwave isn't full of steam.

put a lid on your bowl of water (LOOSE ONE, OMG DON'T KILL URSELF) and maybe you'll get a little pressure for more heat
i won't lie i used the mircowave to sterilize my casings (worked fine so far)
what i did is added alot of extra water to the casing in a big ass jar, then mircrowaved it on half power so that it wouldn't boil over my microwave does half power by only turning on the waves for half the time you set it for (lmao) so that kept the water from boiling over, it would boil up to to the top then the waves turned off and it'd go back down but i did this until most of the water evaporated off, then adjusted the water content as needed (used a flamed spoon to get it out)

It looks as though the rice absorbed more moisture then it normly does. It looks very fat and bloated in side the jar....
If only luck actually existed.

The jar has fully colonized, has been placed in a poor man's pod, and cold shocked. Pins are expected soon.

I've had a lot of success make the normal PF jars then using wax paper to cover the top secured by a rubber band and micowaved for 3 minutes. Then after that placing your lids on top and remove the rubber band. In my mind it seems to stay sterile. Then just puncture through the wax paper using a spore syringe. Leaving the wax paper on until birth. Done this few times nuking 4 jars at a time with no contamination problems yet.
