Correct me if I am wrong but aren't those already cased? Looks like overlay might be taking hold as well.... I could be TOTALLY wrong so please wait for more posts, but what I have learned thus far, thats what I'd say.

You want to fully re-colonize before applying a casing layer. We don't know if it is rye, or WBS spawned to a substrate. We can "assume" that that is what was done. When you do that, you cover and leave alone for a few days until it has recovered. You case and put in a fruiting chamber. If that has a casing layer, (which I doubt), then yes it would be overlay.

Incubate after applying casing layer for partial casing colonization.

yeas, it is a colonizing bulk sub in aluminum bread loaf pans. sub is coir/coffee (about 70/30) and the spawn was colonized WBS. They are strating to look a little more fully colonized since those pics were taken, but still aren't what I would call there....
two of the tubs now have myc touching every inch of the top layer, with a few spots that appear darker because they aren't as heavily colonized.... the third tray needs a bit more time still.
based on the description above (i don't have time to take pics right now) does it sound like the first two trays are ready to case?
also, I will be using lime and maybe gypsum to buffer pH in this casing. At what ratio (for one cup peat and one cup verm) would you recommend adding the buffers?
thanks everyone
peace!
