hmm.. Im trying to think of a rock that solos

uhh, well don't listen to much trippy stuff but try metallica's - the thing that should not be? a pretty dark toned song but I love the solo. trippy enough for me.

I don't know if this is the kind of rock you're looking for, but check out straylight run - your name here.
also, check out Toubab Krewe. Pink Floyd's Shine on You Crazy Diamond is a classic that is hard to rival.

Jimi Hendrix -- Are You Experienced?, All Along the Watchtower (that wah tone is so fluid), Voodoo Chile (that 15min version on Electric LadyLand)
Pink Floyd -- Time, Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2), Echoes
Anything with Jerry Garcia, John Scofield, Pat Metheney, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, Scott Henderson, Alex Skolnick, Jimi Hendrix (especially the ones I mentioned)....
Theres so many! Those are the ones my drunk mind can remember at this moment. I will think of more later.

For sure, Floyd, Hendrix, Zep are all classic and great stoned listening. Living color Times Up has one of the wildest most progressive solos (2 actually) in it that I have ever heard without going beyond melodic. I think there might be a few versions floating around too.

if we ta;l pink floyd you should listen to pulse's comfortably numb and animals' dogs. that comfortably numb solo alone got me into pink floyd.
i love the all along the watchtower solo.
if you like guitars in your psytrance check out S.U.N. Project.
also you might wanna check out some old incubus.

Also Floyd's welcome to the machine off wish you where here has a very trippy synth solo with really nice tones. I use to listen to it when I had a shitload of hash .. never been the same since !
Also the best comfortably numb solo is off Delicate Sound of Thunder.

Musically pink floyd, led zepplin, the doors, jimmy hendrix is the way to go. But the trippiest thing ive ever heard is after eating a quarter me and my two buds were sitting on my back deck and we heard cop sirens that just went on and on for what seemed like forever. And when they faded into the distance it was like 10X better than any song ive ever heard

The guitar solo at the end of 'Nothing Lasts' by Shpongle. I think the song is called Falling Awake.

How the hell could you guys forget Yes? Everything by Wakeman and Howe is amazing. I can't even begin! I guess the best one would be Starship Trooper live on Keys to Ascension. That was... the most amazing thing ever! haha But seriously, The Yes Album, Going For The One, Close to the Edge, and Yessongs are probably the best albums ever. ever.

Also, Trey Anastasio from Phish can pull of some trippy solos. And of course as others have said, Floyd, Jimi, The Grateful Dead, The Doors, and basically anything else from that era.

The beatles love you too has some sick sitar riffs on it:D lol.. Other than that alot of Jimi Hendrix'x songs are my favorites.. Like: Hey baby(new rising sun) All of the different versions of Machine Gun n midnight lightning burning of the midnight lamp I really like cry of loves ezy rider.. Its like one of his happier songs.. If a 6 was 9 is pretty cool, I really relate to that song, lol.. May this be love Moon turn the tides gently gently away one rainy wish power to love somewhere over the rainbow spanish castle magic third stone from the sun who knows THE BLOOD SPANGLED BANNER;P! lol Voodo Child (berkley, n woodstock) Alot of people probably havent heard alot of those hendrix songs. N I think they should cause I mean those in my opinion are some of his more psychedelic influenced songs.. You guys should try some of those songs if u never heard them before..

Hey all check out this crazy shit.
Its basically what I consider to be just about the trippiest thing I have ever heard.
Its also "basically" an 8 minute long guitar solo. The "solo" starts 6 minutes into it. My favorite reba ever. The sound quality is somewhat poor, but who cares when the music is this good.
And now for some fuckin serious phish. If you dont listen to it and especially if you are a musician, yer missing out on something pretty special.
Be sure to enjoy!

Oasis - Live Forever
This has always been my fav solo, and the ending one gets pretty trippy. They arent long but they say alot to me.
Also watch their live DVD "Familiar to millions" while you trip, it has some really trippy guitar solo's.

OK, I didn't post the original question, but I liked it and made the following cd full of mp3s. I'll let you know what I think is the best. I'll compare it the classics that I know like Pink Floyd etc.
Straylight Run Shpongle - Nothing_Lasts Scott Henderson - Illicit Infected Mushroom - Im The Superviza John McLaughlin - My Goal's beyond Funkadelic - Maggot Brain The Mars Volta - De-loused in the Comatorium

This has always been my fav solo, and the ending one gets pretty trippy. They arent long but they say alot to me.
Also watch their live DVD "Familiar to millions" while you trip, it has some really trippy guitar solo's.
Hell yeah dude. Live Forever is one of the best trip songs period. Check out the video too, its pretty trippy itself. Look for flashes of Lennon, Hendrix and some shrooooms!!

Hell yah man. Everytime i trip i sit and listen to OASIS wondering what it was like to be them tripping on shrooms writing their songs. Noel Gallagher is one of the greatest song writers ever IMO.

I guarantee Liquid Tension Experiment to fully trip with you whilst on any psychedelic. Crazy technical stuff that can control time and space around you.
Fun times.
Try the song "Acid Rain"- it'll throw you on a roller coaster!

oh and don't forget Sonic Youth .. Evol, and Experiemental Jetset and no star, not exactly guitar solo stuff, but layers of crazy improvisation and it will make you trip without any drugs. My fav is probably Tom Violence off Evol .. that song is a trip in itself.

Sonic Youth on mushrooms= memories of Southern California through the eyes of the mushroom world.
Great music with, as mentioned, some very unexpected sounds. Too unique to pass up.
