Crazy malformed mushroom (safe to eat?)

Hi there. I have come across a mushroom with a strange formation on the cap. I discovered upon harvest that it has some brown spotting/marks at the base. It's buddies on the same cake (pf tek PESA Hawaiian strain) all aborted and had the same brown marks. The cake itself is fine and white and smells healthy and mushroomy. Is this just mutation or is it more sinister? A viral infection perhaps. If so is it still safe to eat?

I have started the drying process so that's why it looks a bit dry. Humidity in the shot-gun fruiting chamber is 90%. It was a first flush.
PS: I posted this in the contam forum first but nobody has posted any answers so I thought I would try here.

I found a P. cubensis recently that was similar. The one I found looked like it was growing a mirror image of itself on the top of the cap, complete with a second veil and a small stem sticking straight up.. I'll try to post a pic....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm I have to inform you that that is certainly weird - I would probably cut the nipple off and eat it whilst playing Goldeneye just make sure its de-cursed . Um seriously - um I dont know but its flippin weird - I don't think its big enough to worth pondering over too much - but thanks for posting it - it has enriched my day(I'm actually not being sarcastic)

Here is a picture of the upside-down cubensis that I found, right next to the biggest cubensis that I've ever seen with the veil unbroken. The big one weighed over 15 grams fresh.

I'm loving the mutant man. I'm only really worried about the brown spotting. Could it be a contam?

As mirth said, cut off the top and eat the rest. Aborts should be safe to eat.

No, the brown spotting at the base of the stem, not the malformation. The spotting is on the aborts as well.

Cloning mutants and having a grow of 100% mutants looks like a fun experiment.

i keep getting a crapload of short fat fuckers too.I been thinking about cloning those on the next run.Theres a super fat dwarf about to break veil any minute but i dont wanna hack it up cuz it looks to cheerful. One of the traits the fat dwarves carry is a solid body and massive density. If i do get some plates cloned i don't even care if theyre short and fat.If I can isolate the solidity that would be great.I down graded to pentium 2 processor cuz my p 4 straight died so as soon as I can get a new processor imma post some logs and set up teks for the people.takes forever with this shitty processor to do more than one thing at a time.

You're RH might be too high. Try poking more holes in your terrarium, and more FAE.

RH, relative humidty?
FAE?
I fan three to four times a day and have lots of holes. I also spray down the perlite when I fan to keep humidty up around 90%. Or are you talking to InvisibleRasHelio1?
As I said it isn't the mutation that I'm worried about, it's the brown spotting at the base. Is ther ANY chance that this could be a contamination. The aborts have the same spotting as well.

Sorry for the confusion. I was replying to Rashelio1, about his issue with short, fat shrooms.

Is it possible this "spotting" is simply spores? If possible, post an image please.

You can just about make it out in the picture I posted. Look at the base of the stem, just above the mycelium. Do you see those brown marks?
They can't be spores because the veil had only just started to brake when I harvested. If anywhere, they would be on the veil. Also, they would be purple, not brown. Finally, the same spotting was on the stems of the aborts.
I would post an image but they are being dried out now so the colouring isn't very visible any more.
Does anybody know of any contams that can cause this effect?

Looks safe to me. If it spreads/grows post an update. When you dry them, use a rapid drying method.
